We have golden syrup, lemon or lime juice and desiccated coconut.
This sounds great to me Bong1968
I love pancakes and see pancakes as fast and wholesome for those like me who are gluten intolerant.
My favourite topping is freshly squeezed lemon juice with a little sugar or maple syrup but I do like pancakes with fruit and have savoury ones sometimes. π
Don't eat them I'm afraid. It seems like a lot of waste when for just one person.
Hey this sounds a shame to me as we are worth making the effort for. As how long does it take to make a batter... less than a minute.
I bake my own gluten free bread so see pancakes as quick and easy alternatives.
An option could be to prepare double amount of batter and keep it in the fridge for a couple of days. Oh, donβt give up!
You can scale the recipe up or down.
I've also cooked a lasagne that used pancakes instead of lasagne sheets (you can barely tell the difference), so if you do have any leftover pancakes, you could use them to make a savoury dish for dinner the following day
Thatβs a brilliant idea, to use it in a lasagne.
I agree it is a brilliant idea Elisabeth. ππ
Sugar and vinegar, I know itβs weird but always had it from being a kid, not sure if itβs a yorkshire thing?!
Wow I've never heard of that but why not as it sounds like sweet and sour pancakes. π
I ticked other because I can't make them, never found a good egg substitute for pancakes, any suggestion anybody??
Hi there INK45 you could try gram flour as thats often used as a plant based egg alternative or there's Orgran egg replacer made with plant cellulose. orgran.com/products/no-egg-...
Mine definitely lemon juice and a little sugar, from my childhood. My boys would have chocolate spread and ice cream. Happy Shrove Tuesday for tomorrow βΊοΈ
Me too ππ I hope that you enjoy pancake day tomorrow.
I like savoury pancakes- filling with mixture of cooked tomato, onion, ham, leek and covered in a cheese sauce.
Hey your savoury pancakes sound divine...π
I don't eat pankakes or anything wheat based.
Iβm a coeliac so canβt tolerate wheat Eryl and I make pancakes with alternatives like ground quinoa.
I don't eat wheat beccause it causes an insulin spike which causes health problems just like the sugar most people put on their pankakes. I thought that this group was about healthy eating?
The thing is Eryl there is a lot of difference between healthy whole grains and simple sugar. Complex carbs are packed wit nutrition and are slower to release than simple sugars which have NO nutritional value.
Not all of us need an unbalanced diet to compensate as we have put our bodies in danger because weβve lost control of our weight.
We support a healthy diet for us and our needs and the majority of us except each otherβs needs and respect each otherβs dietary needs.
Homemade jam. Walnuts. Poppy seed. Sweetened cottage cheese. How do you eat pancakes with lemon juice. Thatβs the most popular choice. I seem to be missing it.
Hi Elisabeth3 your pancakes sound lovely as I love home made jam which Iβd have with cream cheese.
Pancakes with lemon juice are plain unsweetened pancakes folded up with a sprinkling of sugar then fresh lemon juice on top and itβs lovely.
All my childhood memories of pancakes are of pancakes served like this. π
Thank you. I never imagined pancakes like that.
Also, very fond of savoury fillings such as chicken a la creme or poached egg, spinach and feta cheese!
Hey I like the sound of your pancakes especially feta. π
Lemon and sugar or chocolate spread and banana
I love lemon and bananas are my favourite fruit with pancakes. ππ
Lemon juice and sugar or Canderal granules.
Classic pancake my favourite too. π
I donβt like pancakes .
We always had lemon juice and sugar when I was growing up, so that's my plan. These days it's less sugar, more lemon juice than when I was a kid!
I'll also have a few with just raspberries and cream
You can't beat lemon juice and sugar and I use much less sugar than when I was a child. Also raspberries nows that another great choice. π
Organic maple syrup and butter. Not healthy, but a once a year taste treat.
A classic American pancake so you enjoy it. π
I enjoy my pancake with berries when they are in season. When the berries are not in season I have it with a banana on its own or sometimes for a little treat I add a little bit of maple syrup on top of the banana.I must remember to have it with yoghurt sometime though I bet it is lovely.
Great Survey.
Thank you Lotus-Blossom I'm also going to have to try pancakes with yoghurt, I agree that theyre great with berries or a banana. π
Lemon juice and runny honey
Very nice runny honey on a pancake ππ
Bramley apples and cinnamon
Apple pancake sounds amazing as I love Bramley apples, so a great suggestion. ππ
the most common thing I put on pancakes is real butter - and rarely anything else. But sometimes if there is real maple syrup around I'll dip my pancakes into that (don't like to drown them in syrup)
Iβve never tried this and itβs popular in the US. π
Jerry sad true i dont like American pancakes π . But i love Moroccan pancakes π
Full fat Greek yoghurt, and either berries, cherries or apple puree
This sounds great to me Fran. ππ
Must have sugar with the lemon
Classic and my favourite. ππ
Sugar and lemon juice
