184 VotersOther is my five cats
We have an extremely spoilt ginger tabby called baby!
I love every single cat, but I have to say if I were to be pushed to choose it would be ginger cats. I love the name of your one Baby that’s lovely, enjoy xx
I remember when we first bought baby and I had started a job at a call centre and had said how we had just bought ourselves a kitten and said how her name is baby and that she is spoilt!
LOL Baby sounds cute 😸
Playing on my Xbox while listening to podcasts. I live alone so listening to some sort of discussion is a comfort.
Other being knitting and jigsaw puzzles, word search and sudoku on my iPad.
Do you do word scrambles? You take a phrase or sentence and make new words using the letters in the word scramble puzzle.
I do those too. A friend also recommended candy crush. I uploaded it, played for 20 minutes and got bored so deleted it.
There is another game called ‘words out’ which you might also like.
Keep safe and sane
Love Sue xx

Running or a long walk (rural, don’t see anyone) ..
My other is exercise, either walking, or physio exercises for Spinal Stenosis, and gardening.
Sounds good to me Tudee 😊
Listening to music and playing and singing. Zoom chats and shared online meals. Jigsaws. Walking. Praying.
We did a virtual dinner on zoom today as we had been due to meet up but we cancelled it due to the new stay home thing so decided on a zoom chat over dinner instead which we all enjoyed!
Sounds fun 😁
Other is dancing and cooking home made meals from scratch (Don't usually have a lot of time to do this).
I cook all my meals from scratch so good for you Kingsmil
Yes, good for you! I cooked my meals from scratch and always put a few portions into the freezer so I don't have to cook as often as daily - but I find I am getting quite obsessed with working out what are the best recipes to make with what I have fresh in my fridge, so as to minimise food waste! Sometimes I have too much other stuff (work, mainly) going on in my head and I can't keep track properlky so food is wasted and I hate that.
The fact I am still fairly healthy, have a partner, people who like and need me, a warm home, two jobs and my cats. Oh and the escitalopram...
Running and walking once a day
I always make time to go for my once a day permitted exercise from the government and always feel better afterwards!
The ‘other’ chosen in this is watching TV usually dramas or a good DVD 📀
Running, walking, home gym, and planning and preparing healthy meals.
Other is circuit training in my garden and reading the bible

Other is Whatsapp - I'm spending far too much time forwarding amusing videos
Other is work. I'm very lucky to be working from home.

My Other is: doing a free online Zumba class that a Zumba instructor friend of mine gives once a day.
Fantastic poll, Hidden !
Exercise
Other is running and Zumba
I restarted yoga last week, and it helps me start the day with more positivity and energy, very necessary in these tough times. I also go for a walk at least one hour a day (and not much longer, of course), just to relax and enjoy the scenery and the fresh air, without rushing! All this and good music at any time of the day, help me to keep going!
I am enjoying online learning with future learn as they have loads of courses to choose from and there's something for everyone there!
Keeping fit is a must for me on a daily basis even if its just walking and gardening l must do something though l do relax from 2pm onwards with a book or browsing my laptop.
Who's your favorite author? We have a monthly book posting on the Pinned Posts if you would like to recommend any books.
JOhn le Carre constantly and Hilary Mantel at the moment , re reading Bring up the Bodies before starting The Mirror & the Light , now off to find pinned posts !
I'll attach it here for you in a minute!
Running
Shouldn’t there be an exercise option bearing in mind the website we’re on?!
Exercise is a good one FleetwoodShuttle
My others are decluttering and cleaning out cupboards I've been working my way around the kitchen disposing of very out of date things and things containing gluten, I've been wanting to get this done for ages, so delighted all kitchen cupboards are done ... next is ... I've been doing my sewing room today again it's been needing doing for a while, I'm organizing and folding my material, and generally tidying up.
So decluttering and tidying everything around the house is my mission atm.
Xxx
This sounds very constructive to me pamela22 you'll be pleased that you did this. 😊
Oh yes it's so nice opening a cupboard and knowing that it is all gluten free, so much easier to find things too.
I cleared out all the things with gluten in and donated them to my 2 daughters so they are out of my home all together 👍🤗👍
When I was first diagnosed with coeliac I came home from work and my son had sorted out the food cupboards, mine was empty his had all the sticky toffee puddings and the rest was in the bin...it was funny.
So I can relate to this. 😊
Ah yes thankfully I've had my own gluten free cupboard for a while now and when were shopping we always check the ingredients list first so there is still quite a bit in the cupboards to make meals with.
It's a whole new world without gluten for us but thank goodness there's still lots we can eat.
Xxx
I also love writing, cooking, TV programmes especially PBS Newshour good documentary and crime series such as The Handmaid’s Tale, Vera, Shetland, all beautifully written vintage classics Law and Order, etc.
Hey you have great choices in tv programs as I really like the same ones DeeSending and I love cooking so nice one. 😊

I have dug back into my adult coloring book. Almost finished all the pages and will purchase a new one soon. ☺
Happy coloring!
Thank you so much. ❤☺
You're welcome! I like to color, too, but I haven't done it lately because I haven't seen my Nephew or Niece for a few days, now.
Hey this is great and keeping you occupied in a positive way Kathush 😊
Thank you so much Jerry. ❤😂
I love reading and keeping in touch with my friends by email and WhatsApp. But the main thing that keeps me going is regular FaceTime with both of our sons in America and in particular watching and getting to know our 6 month old granddaughter in Chicago. We've never met her yet and were meant to visit them next week 😢.
Just being thankful that I am isolated with my husband & child, and that my other child is well
Walking
My daughter (5) who is hilarious, creative, fearless, sweet, brilliant and so many other things.
You can’t beat growing families for keeping us alert 😊
The things I picked not only keep me positive but also keep me busy and get me through each day... and so does bread pudding made by my mum :).
I have been in a similar situation before where I was practically isolated but only this lasted for 6 years.
I hope that it doesn’t last as long this time... don’t think it will.
But because of this isolation I lost a lot of confidence and motivation.
To begin with, I was drawing but then gradually had no motivation to keep up with it.
I know more people since then and I am aware and do more activities such as crafts as well as gardening.
Nice one Matt 😊
Sounds good to me Karen, 😊
OTHER is my dog.
Other is walking.
I try to keep busy during the day, which stops me getting too bored, I enjoy gardening and now the weather is much better I can get out into my garden.
What do you usually plant in the garden?
At the moment tidying it up and weeding after the winter and cutting the grass. I have a small vegetable patch, so I’m potting up onions and some cut and come again lettuce.
Hi Jerry
Avery good poll.
I chose baking, gardening, meditation (just started the deep breathing again), music (music makes me happy) and other. The other is my daily power walks, I love getting out particularly as the weather has been so kind.
Stay safe and keep well.
Alicia 😊
Great choices Alicia and the weather is getting kinder so enjoy and you keep well and safe too. 😊
Oh most definitely, the weather has been so good.☀️😊
Walking my dog
Puzzles
Other= TV, educational programs like science, history, geography and non drama programs.
Other is my family, best friend, two dogs and my iPad
Great poll, Jerry! Can I say (as someone who would have picked Meditation if I could only pick one thing) that this is such a brilliant, loving and kind thing to do for yourself, I would recommend it to anyone - whether you need a boost or not. But for me it is really earning its keep in this strange times. Just 10 minutes a day. And you can learn in so many different ways. You can even start simply by spending 10 minutes sitting in a hard-backed chair with your eyes closed, focused on your breathing in.... and out... and in... you get the picture. I earnestly recommend it to anyone who is struggling at the moment. Stick with it for a week or so and you will start to feel the benefit. If you have a day when it isn't working, do the best you can and don't worry. Tomorrow will be better. It always is. Namaste.
Something else I should have mentioned under Other is my 3 cats. These little gods are the centre of my world, and keep me sane whenever things get difficult.
But I am also loving all the culture that is freely available to us because of the internet. On Youtube, for instance, every Thursday night at 7 (and for 6 days afterwards) the National Theatre "At Home" programme gives us a play from their archives. I just watched "One Man, Two Guv'nors", which is available for several days still, and very funny. Next Thursday it's "Jane Eyre".
On Friday nights, but only available for 48 hours afterwards, Andrew Lloyd Webber is streaming on Youtube one of his big musicals. This Friday night it was "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat" - that's on now until Sunday early evening. Next Friday night it will be "Jesus Christ, Superstar", probably chosen because it's Easter weekend.
And if you're really pushing out the boat and fancy something dead posh, the Metropolitan Opera House in New York are showing a fresh one of their archived operas *every day* on their website. There's an amazing programme, but of course you have to be quick because they are often 3 hours long, and changing every day.
Oh, yes, and also on Youtube (I don't have shares!), Chester Zoo have a channel where they've done a virtual tour, great for kids of all ages, me included. And all over the world, museums are doing virtual tours via the internet. We can see places we would most likely not have the time or money to go and visit in person.
There is a lot of variety out there in the entertainment we can choose to feed ourselves over the next few weeks. I think we are incredibly lucky that the arts organisations in the UK and abroad are all putting something out there so we can feed ourselves a bit of culture if we want to.
Oooh, sorry, Jerry. That's turned into an epic ramble, hasn't it? LOL You're welcome to move the post somewhere else if you think it would be better there. I really didn't plan to write an essay!
Hey Hidden this is really interesting so good for you we want members to interact so thank you, we have very similar interests.
Me I'm man of few words I just say the same ones a lot...😁
Connecting with my neighbours, even if over the garden fence.
Also, Films, TV, Internet.
Sports is a must
Listening to radio dramas and documentaries
Staying in contact with family and friends keeps me going
Other: watching films and doing some exercises.
Gardening is always a great leveller for my mood. You have to stay in the present and deal with very tangible problems. It’s also the growing season and seeing those little sprouts pop up and begin to grow is very satisfying. Listening to music you love is also a great way to stay sane in troubled times. My other sanity check is walking my little golden spaniel and giving her lots of 🤗 hugs or laughing at her antics....which are many and various 😂
I am fortunate to be working from home, with telecoms, and utilities, looking after our customers who are also able to work from home, set the works computer in the bedroom and every break and lunchtime come away and go into the garden/backyard (weather permitting) also stick to my normal routine up at 6am shower, breakfast and facebook with music.... stay safe everyone please
My "other" is jigsaws
Other is jigsaws
Other = chatting to friends online or on the phone, and carrying on with normal cooking routines at home plus watching films we like, together with my husband. Plus doing some online study in groups, in subjects that interest me.
Looking after my old dog with a heart condition, letting him out on the back street for his own exercise . Practising chair yoga .
Other is WhatsApp groups - photos and videos of family and friends
It seems most people have to be doing stuff all the time as their minds are so full of goodness knows what and the slightest thought of them not doing anything freaks a lot of people out (bizarrely). Whereas, I’m on my own and I can just sit there for hours with a cup of black tea and absorb all the silence that energises me; I don’t label it with any name or anything like meditation, Yoga or whatever else, but it’s always there there to take some at anytime without effort or worry that one is missing out on something, come rain or shine it’s always there.
I'm off to plant some troughs with salad leaf seeds because I'm fed up with the packets of saladings going 'off' in the fridge so quickly. In my experience, planting seeds does focus the mind on looking forward and not dwelling on current problems. There's not a huge lot that I can do at the moment because I broke my ankle 8 weeks ago and my moblity is now severely compromised.
However! my consultant says as long as I don't partake in any kick boxing, river dancing and such, that I will eventually be able to do my 5k again.
Me too Beek it seems so obvious as we can grow them in very little space. 😊
I voted for gardening as I always feel happier and less stressed when I have been outside in the garden. I should have also put other, because my two dogs are brilliant at cheering me up!
Sounds perfect to me Mimirossi 😊
Other is writing a blog on FaceBook about my experiences as a child in WW2.
