Love my cereal and yogurt.
Fruit (usually apple or melon) and yoghurt.
Depends what my body tells me. I'm now undergoing treatment; some mornings I can handle porridge and fruit, other mornings my body tells me, DO NOT GO THERE, and I choose cereal instead!
Porridge, apple, prunes, blueberries, raspberries and yogurt ummmmm....
Voted for Grapefuit/any fruit but it's always in the form of a glass of home made smoothie...any fruit in the bowl each morning that is suitable/soft etc. with fruit juice providing liquid for whizzing up. I love it, and it's my way of getting my husband to eat fruit. I even hide kiwis and mangos in it this way which he'd turn down if offered neat
I chose eggs, but I need a hot or warm breakfast usually. I am either cold in the morning from the A/C being on all night or from the heat being lowered in the winter so a hot coffee and breakfast is a must. If I wake up feeling warm or having a sore throat from dryness I might have cold cereal and juice... then coffee!
My other is kale, tomato and poached egg. No lie.
cereals, quick and easy, I can't stand the sight of porridge! Pancakes at weekends
I have a wide variety of breakfasts so I chose 'other' The one thing I can't have is cereal and milk (any sort of milk) *unless* I also have a substantial quantity of other food as well (so I keep it to Premier Inn stays!). If not, in a few hours I feel as though I am dying (and certainly can't function). Most peculiar. Porridge is fine.
This morning I have had orange juice (only because grapefruit juice seems to have disappeared, anyone know why? Half the population on statins?), filter coffee and drop scones made with grated courgette, fried egg and veggie bacon. Yum.
I am definitely a breakfast person. I'd rather go without any other meal than breakfast.
Grapefruit juice interacts with many medicines so lots of people can’t have it and now that companies have to warn about everything I think it’s just easier not to produce it.
Oddly still perfectly possible to get the whole fruit and tinned segments, so I'll just have to switch to those. I'm not a huge fan of fruit juice but 50-100ml of a morning to wake the taste buds does me nicely.
Well it would seem that there are lot of side effects to statins but I adore grapefruit so I'd have to see very compelling evidence that statins would benefit me before I'd take them!
Banana and peanut butter.
Greek yogurt and blueberries.
Where is the bulk to get the system filled with the fruit?
I don't want or need "bulk" at breakfast.
I can only quote a highly respected consultant surgeon specialising in the digestive tract. He said, "the intestines are organs of bulk which function at their best when properly loaded." He went on to point out that when high fibre food residue is not present then there is a tendency for patients to go on to develop diverticular disease and all of its complications.
Please understand that I was trying to offer a constructive comment not criticism.
Enjoy your breakfast!
Very interesting Tibblington , I never knew that and thank you for sharing. Maybe this is why I always love to have nuts included with my porridge/cereal, I have chopped almonds on top as well as a banana and natural coconut i.e. no added sugar😀
Hello Crazyfitness, there's an article written by a surgeon all about diverticular disease if you are interested and you can find it at: healthscams.org.uk/divertic...
I too have learned a bit.
Tibbly
Thank you so much for the link Tibbly, really appreciate that. I will definitely have a look.
Alicia 😀
Can't live without my porridge. It sets me up for the day. I use jumbo oats make it with water then add a spoonful of extra thick double cream.
Crunchy cornflakes topped with banana dried apricots, and prunes and cashew nuts.
Oats- porridge alternating with Maize meal- porridge that only us in South Africa can prepare.
Home made muesli with homemade yogurt as my 1st choice with porridge and soft fruit as my 2nd.
Our breakfast has three courses, an egg, boiled, poached or scrambled, followed by porridge made with five rolled cereals, oats, barley, rye, rice and wheat (strongly recommended), finally a slice of home-made wholemeal toast and marmalade all accompanied by café au lait (whole milk from the farm) made with Expresso coffee. All taken leisurely. Probably one of the most important meals of the day to recharge the empty boiler; that's why it is called break-fast. Kids who perform badly at school are often found to have left home without any breakfast.
I am type 2 diabetic and trying to eat lowish carb. I know that oats are carbs but I just really enjoy them plus they fill me up. There's more carbs in milk than double cream which is why i make them with water and a generous spoon of extra thick double cream. I'd love to have your home made toast and marmalade but I'd end up with carb overload. Enjoy your wonderful breakfast 🐣🐔🐄
Our toast is made from our home made wholemeal bread made from our home milled wholemeal flour from organic wheat. The bread is therefore substantial but overloaded less with carbohydrates as all of the wheat bran is included. That is important as there are vitamins in it not to mention gums which are good for bowel action - dare I mention.
I do understand your problem especially as it seems you are using diet as your control. Have a look at: healthscams.org.uk/diabetes... you might just find it useful; I found it interesting.
Best wishes,
I like chilli tomato toast
Green smoothie
Overnight oats with seeds & nuts soaked in apple juice.
Organic Muselli with ginger and coconut, soaked in apple juice with berries and yogurt.
ATM it's generally cornflakes or rice crispies with soya milk and fruit. Sometimes fruit with greek yogurt, a drizzle of honey and a sprinkling of granola or spelt crispbread with honey and fruit. In the winter it's usually porridge with soya milk and dried fruit or a banana.
I love scrambled eggs with diced tomatoes and parsley. 😋
Combination of fruit, oats and yoghurt
Bad I know but biscuits. I've been trying oats and bran flakes which are not too bad but still prefer my biscuits. x
Love my vegan tofu scramble with spinach and mushrooms on toast 😋
I couldn't give up my cereal, it's the best meal of the day. 50g mini shredded wheat + 10g Malted wheaties + whole milk. No sugar sprinkled though, I gave that up 12 months ago. I do find I have to wait til 10.00am to eat it otherwise I'm hungry again by 11....but a sacrifice worth making, I would miss it too much if I gave it up.
I love porridge, I like jumbo oats with berries in the summer. In the winter I use frozen berries with cinnamon and chia seeds. Lovely xx
Eggs with crumpets or bagels. Need a boast to gain weight only one crumpet and 1/2 thin bagel whole wheat. Winter might have Keto pancakes and blueberries. Yummy!
Wonderful poll, Hidden !😀👍 I picked yogurt since I also have eggs together each morning (wasn’t sure if they were considered under Other).
Thank you Leah, yoghurt is a great choice too. 😊
I am never hungry for breakfast a cup of tea seems to satisfy. If I have anything to eat it will be a banana or other fruit. But I'm always ready for lunch. I am not sure this is the best way but sometimes if I eat early in the day I can't stop and am constantly nibbling!!
Cornflakes with natural yogurt or when I can get it pour pakissa (natural yogurt)
Cereal, no milk. I also have a side of unsweetened raspberries.
Porridge with raspberries and banana - or with blueberries. Mmmmm! Really nice with cream if feeling decadent!
I get terrible fatigue because of ME so cereal is my go to, easy. If someone else is making breakfast then i don't mind what else I have
Well I couldn't vote as it wouldn't let me select anything but it would have been "other" anyway as I wanted to select three of the choices.
If I'm not at work or I'm working a late shift I'll give the dog a good walk first and it will usually be half a grapefruit followed by a hot breakfast likely egg based.
If I'm at work for 8am I can't eat that early, I'll get hungry around 9-10 am so it's got to be portable or microwaveable. It's often porridge with berries in the winter and when the weathers warmer a substantial portion of full fat Greek yoghurt and berries, occasionally other fruit.
I love Porridge on cooler days topped with seeds nuts and apricots but since we have been having this lovely weather I’ve been enjoying muesli with a bit of All bran and half a weetabix. As a treat I do love seeded sourdough toast with marmalade 😊
I've put porridge Jerry but I've yet to make overnight oats. 😀
Another goid poll and thank you.
Thank you Alicia. 😊
I usually have half a chopped up Apple and a little bit of any other fruit available with some plain bio yogurt and some gluten free seed based granola, all mixed together....yummy.
A few oats with pumpkin seeds, nuts, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and hazelnut milk. Divine!
I'm currently still on my auto-immune paleo diet, so I've been making coconut banana pancakes for breakfast this week I usually make a coconut breakfast bake, next week I'll be making sweet potato and apple cupcakes. I really hope I can be back on porridge by the winter though - I love a bit of porridge, with a little bit of nut butter drizzled over.
Breakfast really doesn’t sit well with me. I’ve tried many times over the years to have breakfast but it always leaves me feeling sluggish and yuk.
So instead my breakfast (I know unhealthy) is a few ciggies and Diet Pepsi and I’m set up for the day and good to go
Do you cut out the pepsi when you try to introduce breakfast? That might be what makes you tired and sluggish.
Hi Cooper27 Thankyou for your reply . No I don’t cut the Diet Pepsi / Diet Coke as it’s my go to drink as I don’t drink tea or coffee xx
Oh well. Cutting out diet coke in the morning caused me problems, so worth checking it wasn't the same thing for you. It can also be down to what you eat. Quick release carbs cause an energy crash soon after you eat them, but maybe some sliced apple dipped in nut butter would be worth a try?
Granola with fresh and dried fruit
Two or three eggs, bacon, one sausage, a little bit of muesli, yoghurt, and a large coffee. Half an avocado if available. After that lot I can work right through lunchtime if I need to.
I usually have either a piece of fruit or a yoghurt when I get to work
