Cinnamon on my porridge in the morning, nutmeg on rice pudding, I also like Garam masala. Not on porridge though! Xx

I did a University study with Newcastle uni. 3 different groups of people getting tested,1 on the real stuff,1 on placebo,1 on the powder. Everyone had better health & was proven. On tv with Cumin.

Hi Jerry sorry to be pedantic but coriander produces both a herb (the leaves) and a spice (the seeds) - I use it a lot in all its different forms.

in reply to Henbur

Hey Henbur you're right, its just that coriander is going on the herb poll...😊

alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

sorry to be pedantic also but " its " hasnt got an apostrophe in this instance :)

in reply to alchemilla12

Hi alchemilla12, I haven't used an apostrophe 😊

alchemilla12 profile image
alchemilla12 in reply to

the reply was for Henbur who said " in all it's different forms " :)

in reply to alchemilla12

LOL I thought it was me...😊

No Jerry it was for me, I think alchemilla was trying to teach me a lesson for being a pedant with you - obviously hasn’t realised we’re friends on here 😂

not at all -It's just a bugbear of mine as a former English Teacher....

Henbur profile image
Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

Shocking sentence, I think detention is in order. No uppercase at start and random uppercase mid sentence what are you doing 😉

alchemilla12 profile image
alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

English Teacher -used as proper nouns here -and not in mid sentence :)

Henbur profile image
Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

Stop you’re killing me, I was referring to the use of “-It’s” in first sentence not “English Teacher” - I think we need to stop or perhaps do this over a glass of wine 😊

alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

LOL - you've got me - mea culpa . I blame my inattention to detail on the fact that I'm trying to cook dinner at the same time and whilst women can multitask quite successfully most of the time , sometimes things go awry :)

I did say it was the misuse of the apostrophe that was a particular bugbear of mine rather than everything else to do with punctuation :)

Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

Shoddy - your full stops are like cabbages even if they are smiley face ones. The only multitasking I do involves a glass of vino 😉

alchemilla12 profile image
alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

Full stops like cabbages ?? I have no idea what you're talking about. How many glasses of vino have you had?

Henbur profile image
Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

I haven’t had a drop hic! I was referring to your smileys in place if your .

alchemilla12 profile image
alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

What has that got to do with cabbages? So you never use a smiley / winking icon then ??

Henbur profile image
Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

Never 😉😊 I thought you’d get the cabbage reference, I’m a primary teacher we’re always telling the children we’re looking for a nice neat dot at the end of a sentence, not a cabbage! Are you secondary?

alchemilla12 profile image
alchemilla12 in reply to Henbur

Yes I was - no cabbages .

in reply to alchemilla12

You two are cracking me up LOL 😊

LOL you got me there. It's not so much the missing out but putting one in where it doesn't belong though :)

Henbur profile image
Henbur in reply to alchemilla12

Tbh I don’t see how it’s any different leaving one out to putting one in - if it’s incorrect it’s incorrect! My autocorrect always changes “its” to it’s 😊

That’s true!😀 Auto correct is sometimes not a good thing.

Cumin can help reduce weight too when soaked overnight in water and that water has to be drunk after straining it every morning on an empty stomach.

Black pepper with turmeric is used to treat various ailments because black pepper increases bioavailability of curcumin (main active ingredient of turmeric) turmeric is anti inflammatory and antibacterial too.

Too many others to mention, but saffron, cardamom, cloves, fenugreek, star anise, etc, etc would be right up there.

Should have added the all too essential chilli pepper, after all I grow them for fresh, dried and ground purposes - and very good jam and chilli sauce as well, even if most people are too scared to taste it!

All of the above. Also chilli, garam masala, saffron.

Other = chilli, garam masala, coriander, cardamom, cayenne, asafoetida, and all spice. Mixes = five spice, ras al hanout, jamacan jerk and piripiri. Don't get me started on the herbs!

I also use corriander seeds a fair bit, and sumac (which has a lemony flavour). I can't remember if chilli was listed as an option, but we use that too!

We have a friend who had started to have some pain from one of his hips. The physio' recommended that he took Tumeric every day and he has reported a lack of pain after just a week. We have another friend with a similar problem but it was his knee this time and Tumeric had the same effect.

We eat these herbs and spices in curry which we buy as a special pack according to the type of genuine curry we choose. They arrive as a mixture to which we only have to add the chosen meat, usually a cheap cut of lamb, and perhaps some tomatoes. Making it 24 hours in advance of eating gives the spices time to tenderise the meat.

I don't want to advertsie here so anyone who wants to know where they can be obtained contact me at tibbly.cat@gmail.com The packs freeze well for up to 12 months.
