Been vegan for 8 months and feel so much better for it

Stopped taking the omeprazole I have been taking for several years and working on reducing my asthma meds

I am interested in doing this a few days a week at least as it find eating too much meat esp daily doesn't agree with my dodgy gastrointestinal system. Do still need to keep my diet balanced, healthy and filling. (As per richardvickery a on omeprazole and now on an asthma preventer too. )

A vegan diet is naturally balanced, healthy and filling. The only major guideline is to get enough carbs for your body. The people who fail on a vegan diet are ones who count their calories and try to cut back far too much.

As for gastrointestinal problems. If you are taking medication do not stop just because you are going vegan. Stop only after advice from your doctor that your problems are clearing up. Gastro problems are often caused by eating meat habits, can be difficult to sort and it can take patience and determination to get to the other side. I would find a plant doctor who can give you specific advice on your condition. plantbaseddoctors.org/ is a free website where you can find one closest to you. Some do skype calls, so you don't actually have to meet them in person.

:) yes am aufait with this and would never stop taking any meds without checking first. Am not comfortable discussing my GIT but do know what the problem is and have been working on it for a few years now with some success, just prepared to tweak things too

Must admit to being a big fan of James Wong and his philosophy - hope it is ok to share this, if not please delete jameswong.co.uk/

The good thing about the internet is you can do so much private research and make your own decisions.

I have come off all my meds including methotrexate since going vegan. To feel the body getting a little bit healthier each day is an incredible experience. To find that it is backed by the vast majority of independent non-industry funded science means this lifestyle rocks.

I'm a lifelong vegetarian, eat quite a few vegan meals. I'm also gluten-free and have other food items that disagree with me. I must admit I'm struggling to enjoy my food so always interested in other ideas.

I've been Vegan for about 6 years.
