Soup is my choice. It makes you feel warm inside and out in th cold days .

Sounds good! What do you like as soup flavors?

Caroline62 profile image
Caroline62 in reply to Activity2004

Well I like most but I think it will have to be home made vegetable soup. What is yours?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to Caroline62

Anything that will be made with gluten free items and/or broth.

Abby14 profile image
Abby14 in reply to Activity2004

I make bacon & Lentail ,beef or sometimes Just veg stew :) I freeze the left overs, so when I can"t be bother to cook I can just heat it up! I have tinned soups, all sorts of flavors what ever I fancy! Tesco do a lovely pea & ham soup, only 50p a tin! Lovely! I also put leftover pasta in stews!

Home made root vegetable soup. I batch cook so my freezer is full for easy dinners. Also great for lunch at work.

Homemade vegetable soup, or chicken soup from a tin. Beef stew a close second, homemade, of course.

My favourite is a lovely thick with meat and vegetables stew, and very occasionally dumplings mmm.

Chilli for me, I eat it with my thermal clothes on, it's so cold, lol. I really love chilli, no matter what season, yum yum :) Carole

I'm from the UK. I love soup, veggie ones. I like warming things like mashed potatoes/mash which I might have with veggie sausages etc. I must admit the three bean salad threw me. A cold salad for the winter? Not trying to be rude. I do like it. Is it popular in the US? I ould have this cold, is it cold?

Activity2004 profile image

3 bean salad can be a side dish.

I went college where it gets cold and I was the only student I knew who loved the 3 Bean loaf (a hot casserole dish). When I saw 3 Bean salad my mind went to 3 Bean loaf.

No idea what a kabob is ! :)

Sheperds pie, or a scrumpy fish pie with boiled eggs and lumps of cheese, prawns and mixed fish all in a herby white sauce under a mash topping!

mysmugcat profile image
mysmugcat in reply to Beek

Kebab?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to mysmugcat

You can use skewers/sticks and put meat, vegetables, etc. on and grill everything at the same time. One place I go to sometimes has kabobs for a meal and I tell the wait staff to please take the skewers out before bring it all to the table. Sometimes, it's hard to remove the food from the skewers.

A nice casserole/"hot pot". I'm very lucky to have a hubby that makes it (he trained as a chef). We like lots of veg in it - anything from red or white onions, swede, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes Inc sweet potatoes, green beans etc and we usually put chicken or pork with it as the meat. He adds stock cubes or pots and spices/herbs to season.

Just had tuna and hummus mixed together today for my lunch! Really good and better for you than mayo and tuna.

xOceanx profile image
xOceanx in reply to Activity2004

Nice. im going to try that for my partner as he eats tuna, but isn't over keen on the taste. I've never thought of mixing hummus with it, thank you.

Activity2004Administrator in reply to xOceanx

You're welcome! What flavor do you want to use?

xOceanx profile image
xOceanx in reply to Activity2004

I don't know but i would definitely want to try homemade, what works best?

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to xOceanx

Recently, I had Olive flavored hummus and mixed it with the tuna. Really good taste. I have also tried the Red Pepper Hummus flavor and tuna together. Both are good to try for the first time. If he doesn't like either flavor, then try the regular hummus and see what your partner likes. Please let us know which you end up having.

Beckystarchild profile image
Beckystarchild in reply to Activity2004

Sorry for delay replying it was overlooked. I add vegetables i have available to me eg; carrots, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower etc. It satisfies my craving for comfort food adequately.

Hey champak, some make almond milk, then dry the flour out to make pancakes.

I use rice flour as i love the taste, i never add sugar etc. I dont eat wheat, or gluten free flours very often.

Only eat rice flour as my body loves it.

I love making almond milk in my magic mix.

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to xOceanx

This sounds great. Do you have pancakes for breakfast year round or just during the Fall/Winter seasons/months?

xOceanx profile image
xOceanx in reply to Activity2004

Hi i do have them all year round. At weekends mainly.

I put in rice flour, olive oil, goats or almond milk, baking powder, egg.

So for my body they are very good.

I dont eat gluten free flours, wheat, potato starch, coconut, yeast, sugar very often.

So i dont buy normal bread etc so they come in handy.

I like melted goats butter on top or hot berries or eggs/bacon or my honey (but rarely as it cost £35 lol)

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004Administrator in reply to xOceanx

I love eating pancakes that are made with gluten free flours since I have a wheat intolerance (had it for a few years now). i also use the gluten free flour for waffles and add fruits depending what we have in the house.

xOceanx profile image
xOceanx in reply to Activity2004

I hate intolerances, im only boarderline intolerant to wheat now so if i eat it now i dont get symptoms but i only eat it rarely as i dont like it anymore really.

is that your cat ? He looks very clever, i bet he would be good to train.

I should be dead, thank god for me i found the right diet for my body when i did.

I use assorted vegetables like squash, potatoes, loads of carrots, celery, onions, scotch bonnets, herbs....thyme, garlic, ginger, crushed black peppers, stock cubes (veg/chicken).

But now, I have decided to go vegan. So I will be changing my ingredients!

Yes, I want to make some lentil soup, but have asked a question just now on this site about whether safe to reheat...instructions on the packet say one shouldn't! And I don't want to throw out any left over. Such a waste.

You can make half the can now and save the rest for the next day.
