At HealthWeb Navigator (HWN), we evaluate healthcare websites, allowing users to see which resources provide consumer-friendly and up-to-date information. HWN resembles a guidebook that collects the most favorable and least favorable sites to visit on the web.
Our staff continuously searches the internet to find healthcare websites that consumers frequent most often. We rely upon an external review panel to evaluate these websites. These reviewers fall into two groups: content reviewers and usability reviewers. Our content reviewers have backgrounds in health care and assess websites based on the quality of their content. Our usability reviewers, on the other hand, come from all walks of life, and approach each website focusing on the user’s experience.
Based on this multi-faceted evaluation, each website is assigned a final, comprehensive rating of one to five stars.
Our search for new websites is a continuous process, and websites listed on HealthWeb Navigator are constantly evaluated for content and maintenance of quality. Each listed website includes a brief description, a grade with reviewer comments, and a hyperlink to the website itself.
We are always looking to expand our pool of reviewers. If you are interested in volunteering your time and expertise to reviewing websites, please visit the following link to learn more about our reviewer training process: healthwebnav.org/reviewer-i...
