l do not know why Falkirk headway group does not seem to have the support that l am sure there community needs.Stirling has no support for brain injury sufferers or there family.Being a mother of a thirty one year old son, who was in a road traffic accident at the age of twenty one and had damage to frontal lobes and had to have his face rebuilt.Apart from little or no help whatsoever after discharge from hospital to a rehabilitation centre.for help with cognitive and memory problems.Which was a pure and utter joke, his dad and l,after discussion with the sister of the ward Ross was in,agreed that ross was getting more input from me and his dad.We decided to take him home.Unfortunately,Stirling infirmary aquired brain injury rehabilitation was all off a six week session that even l myself could have done with Ross.I know many similar people in my area in the same position. It is just so frustrating to know how little help there is out there.I personally would love to be able to help in our area in any way l could.l hope there are other people out there with the same views.

Agree.

I am from NZ, with my injury, I was not serious enough for hospital care and then not being able to cope with much for a while from home, There must be many many people who are in this situation also. It took a year before I could cope with phoning the brain injury association in my city. The emotions, responsibility held things back etc. My Dr was terrible and did find a new one and still see this one.

I think there could be a global loop hole in the much needed ongoing care.

Every person going through the journey needs an individual long plan to the best recovery support. It is not like a broken leg. Brain injury can be forever.

Best wishes to you, your family, and Ross.

Gina.

Hi, you could maybe try contacting Marette, Coordinator at Headway in Perth (contact details via main Headway website). She might be able to point you to someone who could support you in the Falkirk area, I don't know. Perth Headway is basically just her in a borrowed office, but she does a grand job. Best of luck. :)
