My brother is 38 years old. He had hypoxic brain injury in 2016.

was in coma for 25 days.

Since then he has improved a lot. he can walk with walker inside home, does all his routine exercises.

But his vision is badly affected. It is hindering his further progress. He cannot see clearly. Not even read anything. He complains it is all blurr. Neurooptician in India has given him spects with -2 and -3 power.

he can see colors but cannot identify edges of the objects and thereby not able to see.. :( Please help with your experience, has wow vision therapy worked for anyone ? Is there a way out.

My 70 years old mother takes care of him and she too is very tired now

Thanks

Vision loss is sometimes irreversible because the optic nerves can be starved of oxygen and in this case nerves will die.

I had encephalitis and the swelling in my brain meant that my optic nerve blood supply was reduced. My family were warned tgat i could be blind if i was to recover, however tgat, luckily, is not the case. However my sight is damaged, i have lost some peripheral vision on the right and i need bright light to see well, my vision at night in the dark is really bad.

It will really need professionals to say if your brothers sight will improve, once nerves die completely there is very little chance of regeneration.

Hopefully he will continue to show signs of improvement

Good luck

I paid for vision therapy, in my case i t did help, it taught me how to cope with the peripheral vision loss, and the excercises i did helped my eyes to function together and it improved the way my brain interpreted the messages from my eyes.

When the brain in injured the messages it receives can often be scrambled an thereby misinterpreted so retraining correctly can often help.

It will not harm but to what extent it will help i cannot say.

My vision therapist assessed me before starting treatment to determine uf the therapy would help.

Maybe this would be the best course of action.
