HI DOSE ANY ONE KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE TO WAIT FOR MRI SCAN,HAD CT SCAN MARKED URGENT REFERRAL FOR MRI .WHAT IS TIME SCALE

I don't think there is a standard time length as depends on where it is being done, the quantity of referrals, how many are also classed as urgent etc. You can probably get an idea of wait if you ring the hospital where it is to be done and ask for the extension that deals with scan appointments and ask them.

My hospital has target of 6 weeks from referral. They achieved this and 2 months on I'm still waiting for results...guess they aren't targeted in that!

If you have hydrocephalus I wouldn't have thought it should be long. But maybe it depends on how much fluid has built up. I would phone the hospital to check when you are likely to be seen.

Hi,

The best thing you can do is to telephone the MRI unit and they should be able to tell you where you are on on the list. Urgent in my area is two weeks hope it helps Liz
