Brilliant the whole Black Friday thing is a horrible American import. This Sunday is start Advent that is when Christmas preparations start for me, not the day after an American holiday. We have Harvest Festival earlier than Thanksgiving. but I think we are becoming an American colony!

England is becoming more Americanised, not just with certain events but also with the language and spellings. English friends might say things like "I am going to kick you in the ass" or something like that and I would say "I don't know where you got your info from but I don't own a donkey" :).

One of my favourite harvest is Halloween. That is an English-born harvest that American have taken and I think have made better in some ways what with the decor and costumes. I have got an American friend who I speak to through emails and he told me once that he doesn't like it when people dress up in scary costumes like Vampires and Frankenstein's monster, why? I don't know.
