I didn't have a bleed, just encephalitis, "just", I don't suffer with headaches, but everyone recovers at a different rate, remember not everyone recovers and becomes "normal". it's been 16 months for me now and I hope every day I will feel more normal, but my Consultant told,e 12 months ago this may be as good as it gets, not what we want to hear, but sadly , the truth, just go with the flow and tackle each day as it arrives if it's going to happen, one day it will, look after yourself love, you've done so well so far, xx Janet

Hey! I have an AVM too, it haemorrhaged on 02/03/2012. I had headaches for a long time, but that makes sense, and they do go away! Mine eased for gradually and were gone by 4 months I think.

It takes some time for this to heal, so things won't be normal just yet, are you having any speech and language therapy etc? I just spent my time regaining things that I'd lost, like I couldn't recognise numbers for example, so I kept working them out and retrained my brain to be able to use them again.

Things won't ever be the same, you'll just have a new "normal", that's all. If you keep at it, you'll get it all back. I'm 16 months down the line and I'm still getting better, so it's a long haul!

Best of luck to you.

Thanks BSA. My speech is ok I have a quiver sometimes according to my kids and husband.

I can read and read numbers well. My headaces and getting tired very quickly are my big issues. When I hold my head down to do anything it makes it hurt more!

I would like to run again. I ran a half marathon about a month before my AVM bleed.
