I just learned I have HR HPV. I am freaking out! I am 48 and relatively healthy. What are my chances to clear the hpv naturally?

Hi there, Thank you for your message. We're sorry to hear that you're feeling worried at the moment. HPV is very common and most of us (around 80% +) will have it at some point. You will have another test in 12 months and most likely the HPV will have cleared. If it hasn't, then again you will be retested within 12 months.

If you have any other questions, please do email us on nurse@eveappeal.org.uk

Best Wishes,

The Ask Eve Team

Thank you! I am still worried as I read that at my age it is highly likely that the virus won't clear!! Is this true? I think I need to lay off google!!!

Hi. I’m currently having the same problem as well. But mine keeps on coming back and the first laser treatment was back in 2003. In 2020 I was invited to colposcopy clinic and the doctor discussed with me about hysterectomy, because it kept on coming back and had four laser treatments by that time then. Also I was diagnosed with endometriosis by gynecologist. But no changes were found at colposcopy clinic, so I didn’t have to have hysterectomy. So not sure if my comment will help but just to share my stories hopefully help. I was invited to colposcopy clinic for a second view then I had the treatment straight away in 2003. The treatment was very quick and no pain during the treatment. A bit sick and pain for about a week but rested. I asked for some advice and the nurse recommended me to eat vegetables and fruits the most, if want meat then chicken but fish the best, change from normal milk to semi skimmed milk, soya milk etc if drink tea/coffee with it. Drink plenty of water. Take supplements if up for it(to bring up your immune system is always good.) If you’re invited to colposcopy clinic then trust it’s going to be sorted. You should be going for the regular tests if they’ll see any changes and regular tests will help you find the best solutions. Always speak to your doctor if you’ll see something different with your body(which I’m not good with though!) It’s quite common this is, so try not to be stressed as much as stressing yourself out isn’t good. Be kind to yourself. Still enjoy life. Xx
