I’m new here, it’s 2am and having another restless night. I recently went to my GP with post menopausal bleeding, not heavy more like spotting, I also have constant period like pains. On Wednesday I go for checks at the hospital which has a one stop clinic. Has anyone been through this and anyone got any advice,

Hi Willow. I’m sorry I have no real advise but I posted something very similar to you last week about being scared and struggling with the wait between gp visit and next step. Hopefully tomorrow will see you assured that all is well and there is nothing untoward at play. Keep us posted x
Hi hope all went ok today. I went through something very similar just before Christmas . Having not had a period for over 20 months , i suddenly started to bleed and have stomach cramps. I was put on the 2 week emergency list and was seen between Christmas and New Year. I had a scan and biopsies taken at the time, although uncomfortable I just wanted to get it over with rather than be knocked out.The consultant at the time said at the internal scan everything looked fine, slight thickening of the lining but that she thought it was a bit of a blip in my hormones but biopsies would rule out anything untoward. To my amazement she went on to say it felt like a period because yes it probably was and that i may indeed go on to have another one at some point, or maybe that was the very last one .Having gone through all the hot sweats and usual symptoms of the menopause and no periods for 20 months , I was a bit miffed and amazed that my body thought it would throw a last hurrah and not only scare the life out of me but put me back to day one in the menopause, and according to the consultant possibly still get pregnant! I thought after 20 months I left all that malarky behind me, but it appears its not a uncommon thing to happen. My results came back all clear, so yes it was indeed a period, but what a worry and shock at the time!! It is a very worrying time and I completely understand what you are going through i really feel for you. Hope all goes well and you get the all clear to . Hugs xx
Can I ask, did your hot flushes stop. I've just gone through a similar experience. 2 years with no periods, then had some bleeding after intercourse. I had ca125 test which was normal but at hystercopy the gynae said i had fluid in the uterus....at the same time I had tender nipples and my hot flushes stopped...
I've been sent for an MIR scan and the hospital has made me a further appointment with a cervix specialist.... which is next week.
However the hot flushes have returned and I'm just wondering if yours returned.
Hi sorry to hear you have been through the mill. Yes I had very tender boobs before the period and the hot flushes stopped. I am now getting hot flushes again but not as bad as before. The consultant told me the small amount of fluid she could see in the uterus was not unusual as I had a period and possibly could get another, but so far nothing. Hope all goes well next week. Kind Regards A
Hi mrsdoozer, I’m sorry to resurrect your post after so long but my situation and diagnosis is exactly the same as yours, I just wondered whether you had another period after this one and generally how you are now ?
Sorry to hear you are going through it all . I have not had another period or any signs of one since the blip before Christmas and I dont seem to have menopausal symptoms any more either which is good . Apart from dryness but that could be to do with my Sjgreons.I am having complete hip replacement surgery Monday due to osteoarthritis bit of a shock at 54 everything is falling apart since I reached 50 lol
I also had post menopausal spotting and was referred quickly to the hospital (within 2 weeks) by my GP. I had a scan and hysteroscopy for a biopsy. Within a week they contacted me to say that I had Grade 1b uterine cancer. A terrible shock. Within a week I had a hysterectomy. I recovered quickly. I am very fit and slim and a vegetarian. I feel very fit and well.
