Where to eat GF breakfast in Manchester airport
This is the problem with most airports.
Manchester...recently had an early flight...so stayed in Bewleys hotel overnight, with their facility of 2weeks parking for not an unreasonable amount for the two of us. Easier than risking an across Pennines job to be there at silly oclock..and sister is never on time...
The hotel catered very well both for evening dinner and breakfast...and I was fine.
I am told there is a Giraffe restaurant in Terminal one...but havent tried it...
Can anyone else advise?
Apricot
Beware Giraffe they state GF on their menus but everyone we've ever been in uses the same oil and pans for food as for gluten free. The manager told us 'the hot oil kills the gluten'..!? Cue a long lecture from us that it doesn't!
Here's the list of GF food places at the airport:

I have to say such places normally don't understand GF or cater for it, especially as their staff change so often and are paid so little - training is very basic. You may be lucky and find a GF sandwich in Starbucks and some Honeybuns GF cakes in Costa.
Personally my advice to you would be to make your own GF breakfast/ lunch and eat first or take it with you. A lot safer in the long run. If you have an M&S near you they do a nice Indian rice salad in a cardboard box that is great. I normally buy these up before I travel anywhere and take them with me. Most of their other salad/ lunches contain gluten.
Thank you fiona. Can you now take food though security !!!
I've never had a problem taking food through security. Made bacon butties the last time I flew from Manchester and ate them on the plane
u have always been able to take food through security (I ork at Gatwick security which has same rules) just nothing liquid based i.e yoghurts or soups so if u want take a packed lunch then take tht with u. I know costas do gluten free cakes, I assume they have some the same restaurants, when we went my boyfriend (who is coeliac) asked for scrambled egg and they made it for him although it wasn't even on the menu in café rouge, I always say if u don't ask u dont get anywhere in life
Thank you will take a pack up ! Better to be safe then ill
As I said Dippsy - often better to eat before if you can. And yes you can take non liquids through security. If you are going on a long haul flight you'll need to as airline food is often poor for GF. You can always bring your diagnosis letter with you for any problems you feel you might have with security.
