Gluten Free Rash

Hi there,

I've been having blood tests over the course of two years to determine why I have suffered weight gain, exhaustion, bloating etc Thyroid results all come back normal including anti bodies, celiac blood test iron etc all fine.

I do suffer with IBS and I seem to have exhausted every other avenue so on the advice of a doctor and dietican i'm on week three of gluten free.

I know i'm not even six weeks in yet but i'm covered in blistered red patches like rashes?

To my knowledge i've never had a problem with gluten, I feel like this has been the last resort as all my tests and things i've tried before haven't worked.

The rash is mainly on my legs but now has spread to my neck. It's making me miserable.

Any advice?

I think deep down I know these issues are stress and grief related as i've had a huge amount of that and no diet vitamins or blood test has shown any improvement so far.

Has anyone tested for PCOS? I'm hedging a guess you are female?

Removing gluten from diet unlikely to kick off a rash if you have coeliac/gluten intolerance, but I'm no expert on that.

It does sound like Dermatitis herpetiformis which is caused/can be caused by coeliac, but not sure if it comes out when gluten is removed. There may still be gluten in your diet from cross contamination/hidden gluten in ingredients, so that could be leading to it.

I'd advise another GP visit to assertain the rash.

Hello, yes I am :)

I have been screened for PCOS - all fine but I do have excess hair growth so I've been researching and a type called Adrenal PCOS seems to resonate with me.

I have been following completely gluten free including oats etc and tried to be as careful as I can. As you say all I've found from research is most people with a rash it improves with gluten free. But I'm finding the opposite!

Thank you so much for your help x
