Can you have tuna in brine as a coeliac
Hi Donken
Just checked online cause that worried me as i eat lots of it and never questioned whither it would be unsafe. It is okay ,thank goodness😊
Yes - and it is very good for you!
Brilliant I was trying to scan barcodes yesterday and it wasn’t found so was worried
Tuna is fine, but some flavoured tuna's at not. My partner has gotten sick on supposedly gluten free Aldi sweet chilli tuna on three separate occasions, so I would suggest avoiding their full tuna range to be on the safe side.
Tuna's fine as long as you avoid the ones with sauces/added extras. I go for tuna in spring water and have never had any issue. The sunflower oil one should be ok as well.
Just keep in mind, tuna is fine for Celiacs, but a Celiac with the accompanying skin disorder Dermatitis Herpetiformis (DH) may have problems with tuna as it is supposed to be high in iodine. Iodine for those of us with DH can be as bad as being glutened, if not worse.
Depends on the brand and how stringent they are with cross-contamination control/if wheat/gluten on production line. Check with the manufacturer.
