Just changed over to St Thomas' London so expect an annual check up,

Endoscopy last done 27th January 2011

dietician not since 2008

GP is every eight weeks, until CD is under control (if its possible)

Tony - can I ask where were you before?

I know a few members who've had mixed views about St. Thomas' I've asked them to rate their hospital so I'll check who they saw there that was good.

We all have our own opinions and expectations on what we expect. I saw Professor P Ciclitira and his research Doctor Nolan. I have some answers to my CD condition but not all as no one has yet explained why no one looked at my medical notes between 1962 & 2007 where coeliac is noted, yet a legal medical report raises this issue and I loose out on a claim etc.

In 2007 I was at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital and saw 3 different Gastros plus an extra appointment with a locum who did not have a clue and wanted to waste more time with a dietician.

I've been wondering about this - my hospital consultant this week suggested discharging me back to my GP as my second endoscopy in December showed that my villi are now almost normal. I guess I looked alarmed as he said I could see him again in a year.

I'm still having various problems and my GP is both clueless and reluctant to spend any money on me, so I worry that I won't have follow up DEXA scans (etc), despite having osteopenia. Are people with CD usually under the care of a hospital or the GP once they start to recover?

Having been diagnosed for the second time in 2007 I have been under a Gastroenterologist at the local hospital (having gone through 3 and a locum) there has been no consistancy so going to see how St Thomas' looks after me. I am due for a DEXA scan as its been 3 years since the last and my spine is not happy. My GP does more everyday practicle things for me.

@India Usually under care of Hospital for 6mth checks in first year.

PLUS your GP for day to day & ongoing care. So for example regular bloods/ endos if needed at hospital/ scans/ intolerance tests and then catch ups with GPS. Normally your Gastro at hospital writes to you and GP recommending who will be the main point of contact.

If you are worried about your care speak to your gastro or GP and ensure you are clear and that you ARE getting your Vitamin D supplements ie if gastro doc recommends them your GP has to comply.

I've had celiac since I was 3 years old, I'm not 18 and have never had a check up. I asked my doctor about it and he just said there's no need because I haven't had a flare up. where can I go to get referred if he won't do it?
