Actually, most are not! You do have to check every brand before you buy. Sharwood's are usually ok, but I would still check every time. If you eat out at an Indian restaurant, ask to speak to the chef. Some of their poppadoms are gluten free because they use grains like chickpea flour to make them. But if you ask, they will know whether there is wheat in them, which quite a few Indian chefs do use. Never assume anything!
