After a routine check-up with the opthalmist, I have been urgently referred to have YAG iridotomies.
My IOP 24 in the right eye and 22.7 in the left.
I had been experiencing pain and discomfort in the right eye, which I put down to dry eye, which I have suffered from for years.
I have had a few traumatic experiences over the years and suffer from anxiety ( I am not on any medication for this).
I am not stressing about having the treatment.
I have my appointment in 9 days time
However, I am making myself ill by pannicking. I will need to rush to A&E, and I go through every scenario in my head, that I won't get there in time and end up losing my sight.
I know this is my anxiety, and I don't help myself by always reading up on 'worse case scenarios'.
But if anyone please has some positive experiences or can just put my mind at ease, I am not sleeping and this can't be helping the situation.
Thank you in advance

Hello. The YAG laser Iridotomy is a very simple procedure which gives you extra drainage at the top of the iris, just under the eyelid, and will help reduce your eye pressure. This is a very common procedure and success rate are good.
I am sure our lovely forum members will reply to your post and help alleviate some of your concerns.
As you are understandably worried about the whole situation, it would be a good idea to stay away from Dr Google.

Hello. I had Yag laser iridotomy on both eyes! My pressure was more higher than yours -left eye 36 and right 34. Procedure was so simple, painless, everything is done for 5-10 minutes. Believe nothing for panic. Just follow dr instruction. Wish you luck!
Don't worry. I've had the YAG procedure on both my eyes. It was completely painless. No complications. And very successfully reduced my pressures from over 33 to about 20. I still need daily eye drops to reduce the pressures further.
I had YAG done to both eyes following cateract surgery as both eyes clouded over again. I don`t really understand it other than it means I will never have to have cataract surgery ever again. The YAG procedure was done in the ophthalmologist office, just sitting in a chair with chin on the rest as usual. Totally painless and very quick. You will be fine.
You’ve had great responses regarding the Iridotomy, which I had several years ago without issues. Regarding the anxiety, have you tried Bach Rescue Remedy pastilles? These were recommended to me by a social worker colleague, who tried them on recommendation of a psychiatrist she knew. They really work! I have some situational anxiety due to under currently under treatment for Latent TB and they work! That, coupled with waling more and using the Calm app, has made a difference to me. Might be worth a try!
Please relax and have good thoughts, there is nothing to worry about this...It sounds daunting than what it is!A very simple procedure! This Laser Iridotomy is done as a precaution for the wellbeing and future for your eyes many years ahead, just be thankful that this will done in a few days!"Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI) is a treatment used to prevent or treat narrow angle glaucoma. It uses a laser beam to create a small hole in the iris, which allows drainage of intraocular fluid."
I know it would be difficult not to get anxious about this...In my case we had to make a decision to be carried out right away!
