Hi, does anyone know what the result time for field vision tests is? My husband did his 8 weeks ago today and we’ve heard nothing yet?
DVLA results????? : Hi, does anyone know what... - Glaucoma UK
DVLA results?????
3 months, 18 months ago, maybe they have speeded up since.
I take it you passed??? Otherwise you would have been driving when unsafe for 3 months??? No offence to you, I just think it’s a nonsense.
No I failed. I believe the testing equipment at Specsavers was faulty as a I passed 2 subsequent tests at two separate non Specsavers opticians and after a lengthy appeal process I got a 3 year licence back. My advice if you need to appeal is to find an opthalmologist who has experience of appealing to DVLA as it is a complicated procedure involving several forms, letters etc.
Hi, are you saying that once you go for a test at Specsavers you are unable to drive until you hear back from the DVLA with the results.
Gosh, that’s shocking, I am sorry you had such a bad experience. A lesson learned for all of us, thank you for sharing.
I had my letter from the DVLA at the end of June and got an appointment at Specsavers on 15th July. I asked the same question as you a few days ago and the replies I received showed that a wait of 7 or more weeks was still the norm!!
I would ask a moderator to ask the DVLA medical licences department what is the expected time frame right now. I have tried to contact the DVLA for this information but received no help whatsoever. Jim
Since writing this I have spoken to the dVLA medical department again and was very pleased with the response. The expected time frame after Specsavers is now less than 2 months if no further inquiries need to be made Jim
Update!
Now have 3 year licence!!
I have just received my results from DVLA and it has been 7 weeks since my Specsavers field test. It was a pass, by the way, and my licence has been renewed for another 3 years. So my experience confirms your observation that a wait of at lest 7 weeks is to be expected.
Thank you for your message. Really great news for you. Congratulations One snippet of information I have gleaned over the last 12 years, is that we all have a DVLA licence web page. You need to sign onto the website and create an account. You can then see, first hand, if your licence says the expiration date of your previous licence or if you have been granted a new one!! Waiting for Royal Mail to arrive is never a happy experience! Regards. Jim
Thanks for posting this as my husband had a test 3 weeks ago and I was expecting it any day now based on waiting time in old posts. Anxiety levels go up for me just before post arrives so will need to manage expectations!
