I think it depends on your treatment plan and how stable/advanced your condition is. I was diagnosed in April 2021 and have been seen every six months (full suite of tests + check in with doctor). They’ve now moved to a virtual system where they just do the tests, review them and then get in touch. Personally I prefer to be able to see a doctor to ask questions and I think that at the beginning this will be important for you as you will want to establish what the treatment plan is.
Your plan probably depends on the extent of glaucoma and how your region deals with it. From things I've read on here this seems to vary extensively. I'm in Central Scotland. My G was quite extensive when diagnosed. {My fault as hadn't had eyes tested for many years.) So was referred to consultant at NHS eye clinic 12 years ago. (30% loss in L eye, !0% in R) Was immediately put on drops. For 1st year or more I was checked 3 monthly, then extended to 6 monthly and since then annually. Usually by Consultant. My drops have been changed a few times and I have twice had SLT on both eyes. Glad to say my pressures and F of V have not deteriorated in that time.
There are some excellent webinars on the Glaucoma UK website which explain a lot of the current treatments and what to expect.
These days many patients are offered S.L.T a very safe ,quick type of laser surgery at a very early stage of treatment when it seems to be most beneficial.
Glaucoma UK produce some very helpful booklets (also available on line) they cover many different aspects of glaucoma.
I have found that gradually learning as much as possible about this disease is so important and helps when you see the medics.
