Dyslexia specialist teacher here. Can you be more specific as to your concerns?
Hi. Thanks for replying. My dyslexia affects the way I read across the page and I often miss out a complete sentence or miss a line as in reading a calendar. This has caused many missed appointments etc over the years. Glaucoma has damaged my vision in the left eye and for some reason, my balance, spatial aware, and reading have become more of a problem.
Dyslexia is primarily considered to be a difficulty with phonological awareness and not a visual difficulty. However, any dyslexic problems are likely to be amplified by visual difficulties.
skipping lines can be a processing difficulty. With people newly seeking a diagnosis of dyslexia, I would usually recommend that they see an optometrist, not for acuity, but to check that there are muscles are working properly.
Sorry for the typo.
to check that their eye muscles are working properly.
Thanks for the info. I have never been officially diagnosed, but many years ago, while taking a teaching assistant course, my tutor(also a dyslexia specialist) suggested I was dyslexic. And all my problems with reading, numbers, reading the time etc made sense. I had a squint repaired as a child and the optician said that had a bearing on it too.
