I'm due for a checkup on Thursday, 5 weeks post trab and Im getting myself in a state. Does anyone else out there do this? Ive now got loads of negative symptoms and even my vision is worse. Am I imagining this because Im scared?
Panic!: I'm due for a checkup on Thursday,... - Glaucoma UK
Panic!
I am totally fine most of the time having glaucoma but I do always get into a state the week prior to any eye appointment. I think its pretty natural and especially when it's post trab,we are just fearing the worst but as my consultant always tells me most post op issues can be remedied ,so I do try to hang onto that .
Your vision being worse could be due to your eye pressure. Mine was 2 the day after my second trab and I could literally see only blurred colours,it took weeks for my pressure to rise and for me to see properly again. Now I am drop free and my pressures 13 and 16.
Your negative symptoms could be something as simple as dry eyes, which is very common after a trab. Just remember and tell your consultant everything you are experiencing on Thursday and hopefully it will be fine. Good luck anyway and let us know how you get on .
Thank you so much. Its been a long time since my eye felt normal as the pressure was so high before the trab and none of the drops were working. This went on for a couple of months. Negativity set in after many trips to the eye unit hence Im finding it hard to keep positive. Also I was told by the consultant that I went into the op as a high risk case so that keeps ringing in my head. I feel bad that I struggle to rise above this but truth is Im finding it really hard right now. My pressure dropped to 2 after the first op and they had to do a rework 1 week later. I guess yours improved without further surgery? Ive just got it in my head now that the pressures dropped again and Ill need another op. The 2nd op I found really tough. Ill be glad when Thursdays here.
You have been through so much no wonder you are struggling at the moment. Being brave enough to go through an eye op in the first place is hard enough without then having to go through a rework a week later. Do not feel bad that you are having a hard time rising above your negative feelings ,I am sure everyone on here who has been through a trab that didn't go to plan can relate and empathise, I certainly can. My pressure did slowly rise without any intervention.
Fingers crossed for Thursday. X
Thank you. Ill update on Thursday xx
Hi, sorry to hear this, I get really anxious about hospital visits too. Maybe you can take someone to the appointment with you? My mind goes blank when I'm there so if there's something I want to ask I sometimes write a list of questions down to remind me. I do breathing relaxations using the Calm app which helps me. Hope it goes well, good luck x
My mind goes blank too and I write down my questions and do yoga breathing. X
Phew!! I'm glad thats over. All good considering. The pressure had dropped from 10 to 6 which my consultant then got various scans and photos done to check nothing untowards was going on but he said everything was just fine. He also removed the stitches as he said all was healed and they were not now needed. My vision is more blurry but I guess that could be the reduction in pressure. Im home now and relaxing .... until the next appointment!! Thank you everyone for the support. It means so much xx
Whew thank goodness they found nothing untoward and the appointment is now over and done with. Put your feet up and chill .
I couldn't see properly until my pressure was in double figures, at 6 my vision was very blurry. It can take while your pressure to finally settle and you are only 5 weeks post trab .
It definitely helps having others to talk to who understand exactly what you are going through.
Take care and your pressure will hopefully start rising soon x
Thank you. Yes I think the doctor was a little surprised the pressure had dropped to 6 but from what I gather the course and result of a trab can be unpredictable. My sister in law told me her neighbour who had a trab quite some time ago has a pressure of 5 so I guess it can be ok. Anyway its a lovely day so I think I shall take our dog Beau (hence Beaudidily) out for a walk in the forest. I live in the New Forest and I love it! Take care and thanks x
so glad it went well, I’m seven weeks post op now. I had normal tension glaucoma so my pressures were only usually around 12 with the drops. My op eye is now in the 5-7 range at every check up and my vision is fine. So low pressure is ok as long as your eye manages with it. Best wishes.
Yes I think my eye is still struggling but the poor thing did have 2 ops within 7 days and its always been a bit troublesome. My Dads right eye causes him trouble with dry eye. He doesnt have glaucoma. Its my right eye thats the dodgy one too. I had a PVD 6 years ago and the right eye took a long time to recover from that too. I think its just a bit weak. Gifted from my Dad!
