I am flying for the first time since glaucoma diagnosis. Am I right to assume that the meds don’t include controlled drugs so I can just bring them on the plane? I am taking dorzolamide and Monopost. Many thanks. !

By controlled drugs, I presume you mean narcotic drugs! The answer is no. But customs require you to put medicines that are not otc in a clear plastic bag. And if you are worried, take your NHS repeat prescription document with you. You can then prove they are prescribed for you and not being taken out of the country for someone else. Remember we are not part of the EU anymore and it’s wise to have plenty of documentation.
Thanks a lot. I don’t have a copy of the NHS repeat prescription but I’ll try and get one.
I have always taken my repeat prescription as well as the meds be they liquids or tablets in the packaging they come in from the Pharmacy. Always put them in your hand luggage. I have travelled abroad for many years including this year having to take eye drops the last time and have never had any problems. It is also a good idea to take your repeat prescription in case for any reason you run out of something you can usually get help from a local pharmacy.
Please put the eyedrops in a clean clear plastic bag and keep separately outside in the try when you check in for hand luggage. Otherwise you will be called to empty your hand luggage. The scan detector will pick up as fluid inside your hand luggage. Have a nice journey.
Its a small bottle and I just took it onto the plane in a small plastic bag. Take a cooling bag as well as you need to store Dorzolamide at under 30c. Small ones that use water as a coolant cost about £20 and seem to last for ages. Just re soak when they dry out.
I have been flying with my eyedropper in side pocket of my purse and never had a problem, never have put in plastic bags. I guess beacuse they are only 5ml and 2.5ml in bottle, Although I always have a copy of prescription just in case. All the best , enjoy your holidays.
