Why I Fear of going blind with OHT without any damage whenever my visit to the Doctor comes near....I have read a lot about Glaucoma from internet...Can reading a lot induce this kind of fearful behaviour in an individual?

I was quite normal since yesterday when i realized that my doctor's visit is just 3 days apart....

Is there anyone who is facing this kind of issue??

How helpful the Internet is depends on what and how much you read. It’s only helpful if you’re reading websites like this one which offer positive information and advice. Too much internet research will leave you confused and worried. It’s also quite normal to be worried immediately before an appointment but hopefully your doctor will reassure you and provide treatment when necessary.

Hello Gurjar. If someone has OHT it means there is high eye pressure but no damage. Many people can have this and it never develops into glaucoma. Sometimes they are prescribed eye drops as a preventative to stop glaucoma from developing.

If a person who has OHT eventually develops glaucoma and they have been monitored it will be picked up in the very early stages which is always a good thing.

People who go blind from glaucoma tend to be people who have had the disease diagnosed at a later stage so significant damage has already ocurred.

Hello Trish....Thnks for your response...Today I have had my last diagnosis i.e Thickness of cornea....It comes out 596 in both the eyes....Fields were normal....OCT shows average thickness 103...No cupping or damage seen in dilated eyes....Only thing remaining is Disc Photography....What i have read is that it is not a diagnostic test but a record.....Pressure after using Timolol for 1 month twice a day comes to be 18,16.....Still my doctor didnt started any treatment ....I can adjust with the lifestyle.....But dnt want to go blind....

Hello Gurjar.

You have thick corneas and this means your eyes can tolerate a higher pressure. The measurement of 18mmHg and 16mmHg suit you so no additional treatment is necessary, you just need to be monitored regularly. A healthy lifestyle is important so carry on doing just that.

As I mentioned before, people who go blind from glaucoma tend to be people who have had the disease diagnosed at a later stage so significant damage has already ocurred.

You dont have glaucoma, you only have ocular hypertension so no damage has happened. Ocular Hypertension does not cause blindness. Keep reminding yourself of this.

Thnks for such a motivating statement.

Does this statement that blindness doesnt occur from OHT stands true even if Cornea thickness will be around 560??

I have 2 questions filled with certain conditions....If you are Okay with my silly questions than can i ask you 2 more questions having different circumstances??
