Seeing bubbles!

Hi everyone as you know I have recently had a cataract operation. My floaters have settled down however I am now experiencing a large bubble which appears to rise up from the bottom of my eye and is luminous. It’s definitely not a flash and I only get one to four per day, however quite worrying. I’ve phoned the hospital and they said if they increase see the optician. Well I phoned the optician this afternoon and they want me to come for a sight test, obviously I don’t want my sight test yet, way too soon for new glasses. Anybody experienced this sensation?? Any advice welcome xx

I'm glad to hear the floaters that have settled but the bubbles you are experiencing now I have never heard of . Are the opticians not willing to see you for an eye examination without also giving you a sight test ? If so that is ridiculous, where do you turn to if that's the case as GPs don't want to see eye issues and the hospital have told you to see optician . Aargh !!!! Of course this is worrying for you,it may well be nothing but they won't know that unless either the hospital or opticians actually see you.

I would phone the opticians again and just say I was really worried and emphasis the procedures you have had and still have 2 to go and how long you have had glaucoma. You should not have to do that though, it's just not right, help should be there. If you have no joy at opticians, I would phone the hospital again.

Sorry you are still having problems but I would go and have a full check at the opticians, and then when you feel they have settled and require new glasses have another eye test. I had an eye test last October and then again in April just had to say I was having problems so that they can tick a box for a free test. All the best and I hope it settles soon.

Hi Sunshine88888888 I’m so sorry your still experiencing problems. I would definitely go and get it all checked . Please take care and let us know. Sending you hugs xx

Sorry to hear this Sunshine. You have had a rough time lately and maybe a visit to the opticians would be helpful even if you don’t want to invest in new glasses yet. Having floaters and bubbles is very annoying even if not serious. I had a floater for a few days several weeks after my trab, which was like a spider crawling in front of my eye. That has now settled thank goodness! Good luck at the opticians and keep us posted. Big hugs xx

Sorry to hear the latest about your eye. As everyone else is saying, definitely go to the opticians to get it checked out - you needn't order any new spectacles. Perhaps when you get there the optician themselves will check your eye without having to have an eye test. It is probably just the receptionist saying you have to have one. Wishing you all the best and hope your eye clears up and settles down soon. x

Hi Sunshine

Sorry to hear you are still having a few things to worry about.

I can`t remember having bubbles but I do sometimes get floaters and also black rings with a light in the middle, from the eye I had operated on 10 years ago !! These days I just tend to ignore them and they disappear eventually.

Hopefully your bubbles will also be nothing to worry about and will gradually disappear but yes best to get it checked out.

I hope the optician is able to put your mind at rest.

Love Lynne xx

Hi Sunshine88888888 - I am sorry to hear about your new experience of bubbles. Have you ever had an ocular migraine? Could that be it?

On another note, I think it is absolutely outrageous for the hospital to refer you back to an optician! Opticians may be the first port of call for spotting something's not right with your eyes but having just had a cataract surgery you should be seen by an ophthalmologist as it could be linked to the recent surgery. I'd call them back and insist on being seen by a consultant. All good wishes to you.
