I understand that there is no recourse to appeal, even if a Consultant backs you up. I wish you all the best, and a positive result. The stress these test put us through is dreadful, and I am expecting a similar result to yours. My doctor always reminds me that DVLA tests are bilateral, so results not nearly as bad looking as single eye hospital ones.
I recently had a DVLA test which thankfully went o.k. but I did look into what could be done if I got the wrong result and it seems that you can request a re-test and you can request that a qualified optician performs the test. There was also a suggestion that you can request a manual test rather than the automatic one which most opticians use.
I pulled this from the glaucomma.uk web site:
Appealing a DVLA decision
If the DVLA decide not to re-issue your licence following a test, you can informally appeal their decision. There are strict time limits for this (different in Scotland to the rest of the UK) and the process involves having another visual field test at an optometrist of your choice, and this test being send to the DVLA for assessment. You will have to pay for this. Around 60% of informal appeals are successful (as of 2019).
That’s fantastic, thank you! That’s changed (at least I’m pretty sure it’s different from a few years ago) but there was an IGA fuss about the lack of flexibility.
I’m really sorry for giving wrong and scary information.
