Me and partner have decided we want to try for a baby. So I’ve been for my coil removing today at the doctors. But unfortunately the doctor couldn’t remove it as she couldn’t find the strings, I thought this would be an issue as my past smears my strings weren’t located. I had to have ultrasounds to check the coil was where it should be and it was in the right place.
So the doctor has said I will need to be referred to gynae to see if they can remove it.
Has anyone else had similar issue and if so what happened? With Covid she said it could be months before I get an app 😭

Yes I'm same situation as you but turns out my iud is embedded into my uterus lining so I need a laproscopy opp get it out as it was to painful when the doc tried to pull it out. Have you had any luck with removal of your yet?
I've been on the phone to hospital all morning and finally found out why I haven't had an appointment yet, because my doctor sent the referral to the incorrect email address. I recommend you ringing and chasing too just incase they've made a mistake too! Don't let them fob you off!
How did you get on?I’ve been to see gynae today, she couldn’t remove it either. In lots of pain (cramping) she said next step is to try and remove it with me being under local anaesthetic. She said she’s not sure it will work. But if that doesn’t work then a referral to hospital for key hole.
Absolutely gutted as it’s a 4 month wait. I just want the bloody thing out. If the next step doesn’t work; think we will go private rather than waiting 4 months. She thinks that the coil is higher than normal and strings are short.
My doc managed to get me an appointment last week, sooooo quick, I think because of they messed up on the referral so they bumped me up. The hysteroscopy was successful they managed to get it out under local, turns out it wasn't embedded into my uterus lining, my doctor must have been pulling on something else which was why it didn't come out. The hysteroscopy is not painful at all and it lasts 5 mins! Best wishes for u hope it goes well xxxx
