My Right Foot Ulcer
Hi Hoosier have you had a diagnosis for the cause of your foot ulcer - is it to do with poor circulation, or uncomfortable shoes which have made your foot sore - as you cannot feel the sensation due to neuropathy do you think you should see a doctor or chiropodist?
As you know diabetes is one of the main causes of ulcers - but if there is any doubt about the testing for diabetes when you were prescribed metformin which is the main drug for type 2 diabetes, and whether you had a fasting test when you went to the doctor perhaps you could go back to your practice nurse with your concerns. He she will be able to see if
your recent blood tests reflect high sugar or pre diabetes, and assess your foot ulcer. Take care.
I see a Podiatrist on a regular basis. I have a home health care nurse, change my foot dressing on M-W-F. I've only seen my new primary care physician once & can't see him again untill 01/28/2019.
That's good news - you can ask your doctor to explain your test results concerning pre diabetes and ask for more information if the new test is higher. If you have a fasting test it will reassure you if you are within the right range. Sure you will find out more about the neuropathy and if it concerns your circulation, or if your mobility is being slowed down, for some reason. My dad had foot problems in his nineties, and had to wear large shoes which did not rub or chafe his foot. He had diabetes and thyroid trouble but had to have his feet checked in case of infection.
Take comfort in not having pain with your neuropathy. It would be so much worse.
That's such a sweet comment. I have a lack of sensation if my blood sugar goes too high. I can burn myself with too hot water in a bath. The pain has improved since
removing grains and dairy and cutting down my blood sugar. I am lucky because I know the cause of my neuropathy and have to be strict with myself over my diet.
I've had an ulta sound done on my feet. They're fine.
Hi how is your foot now ?- and so pleased your glucose levels are normal.
That leaves other checks for the range of vitamins and other minerals such as zinc and copper deficiency. B12 levels and most other B vitamins work in synergy with vitamin to help your metabolism. If these are marginal - on the low side this can make all the difference to your immune system. As you are interested in weight loss then may be you should focus on a diet which is satisfying, and which may improve the circulation in your limbs and feet. You might find compression socks help tingling and pain in your feet as well as compression gloves - which don't feel uncomfortable. Have used these and found them helpful.
