I too suffer terribly but the best I manage I sleep with my legs up and my back up almost like a V but a kink for my knee ~ So I have four pillows and a V pllow at head end and leg pillow at knee end I have found it is not the beds it is me . I suspect we are cursed with this dilemma over mattresses hard soft ortho the ones that curve to your body. I have medium now with sprung edge to try and help me stand in mornings. sorry I dont think there is a definitive answer but maybe some one else has it. xgins

Has one of those been a water bed? I have fibro and only get to sleep for 10/15 minutes at a time without my waterbed. So, I would highly recommend trying one ;most waterbed companies will give you a trial.

Memory foam mattresses can help if the pain is due to muscles or joints. Or a posture bed as they call it, but maybe you already tried all this. There are also hand massagers that help and are cheaper to buy online than a new bed. Hope the info is of use

Hi Gracemary,

This may seem really strange but i have had the same thing for years off and on, i cant get comfortable, everything in the mattress feels like it s digging into my ribs and sore all over upper body this has been for years off and on as i said, but i have just been told i have costochondritis (inflammation of the cartilage in the rib cage) apparently this can reoccur alot and flare up, it may be completely unhelpful for you but wirth the response i though as you never know. I wish you some relief soon xxx

Being in bed too long might cause it. My back really start to hurt then and I must go sit up.
