I was referred to the Barberry Centre in Birmingham some time end of last year and still heard nothing I've been calling them and getting no response, I've left messages and gad no call back , I know that I need to see someone sooner than later . My mental health feels like its getting worse I'm becoming very moody and can snap anytime specially if something is said wrong or in a joke .

I don't know how to cope anymore 😔.

I feel like running away but nowhere to go ,I don't have friends locally so that's out of the question ,family don’t care about me so who do I turn to for help.

Doctors don't have the time for me busy with other patients, I come on here some times it helps other times it pulls me down .

Since I had to retire my work colleagues have disappeared into fin air I'm at a loss what to do any advice please 🙏

Please contact your GP. Get an appointment and tell him how you feel. You need support and that's what they are there for. Depression is not easy to dig yourself out of and counseling could help. I wish you all the best.

I agree with Lexilu, call your GP and tell them you don't know how to cope and you need help, keep it brief initially and they will have to prioritise (triage). You need Psychology/lifestyle help and OT/ PT for rehabilitation.

Putting Mental Health aside, what are your current dehabilitating symptoms? Maybe the group could offer some advise to help manage them.

I attended the Barberry Centre but, I did have to wait two years for an appointment to see anyone. I’m not saying you will have to wait this long.

I don’t know why no one is answering your calls or responding to them as I didn’t have this difficulty. You could try calling the Neurologists Secretaries to see if they can help you. You will have to call the QE and ask the receptionist to put you through to the Secretaries.

In the mean time, I would suggest that you go back to your GP

Did you find the treatment at the Barberry useful for FND?? I found the neuro at the QE hosp good for getting a diagnosis, but they have no FND therapy teams there, and it is in a different Health Trust from the Barberry .. which is in the Mental Health Trust and does have therapists. Did you see a multi-disciplinary team there? Two years to wait when you are not a spring chicken is a long time!

It's good to know they have at least accepted your referral. Three months after my referral went in from the GP I currently till don't have that assurance from the Barberry.
