EVO 2, an AI that could change everything

Super powerful, open-source...dynamite especially if used together with AlphaFold...let me introduce you EVO 2

Evo 2 AI is transforming synthetic biology, enabling genome design and mutation prediction with unprecedented accuracy. Developed by Arc Institute, NVIDIA, and top universities, it processes up to one million nucleotides at once.

Unlike AlphaFold, which predicts protein structures, Evo 2 operates at the genetic level, designing entire bacterial-scale genomes and novel biological mechanisms. It achieved over 90% accuracy in identifying pathogenic BRCA1 mutations and is shaping breakthroughs in medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology.

Evo 2 is pushing synthetic biology beyond analysis into active genome creation, unlocking new possibilities in bioengineering.

Add this to AlphaFold and AlphaProteo, then sprinkle the tumor reversion platform created by KAIST in Korea...and you have a very nice cocktail!

a cocktail not to drink for us warriors but for researchers to get snockered correct. Will we be around for the hangover and bloody mary in the morning?

enjoying my test questioning of medical and cancer questions on the free, very easy to use, Perplexity. It is a ChatBot so “only” knows everything that has been printed (words). But gives full references.

So curious about which AI engines can explore all medical imaging and test results then perhaps correlate with clinical outcomes?? Such would need the raw digital data files of MRI scans,CT, PET, etc. (not just the reports/readings)Digitalized biopsy/path slides. Etc. Really getting in the weeds to go where perhaps no physician has gone before.

I think we are looking a bit too much at artificial general intelligence, for the common people let's say, while there are specialized artificial intelligence examples that are really changing everything (AlphaFold and company). This said, from what I know Grok (and another one that I don't remember) can read X-rays and so on. They extract information from images.

That’s very good to hear. They will need to train on huge image databases. ?access. I am reluctant to approach Grok3 at this time since it is an Elon Musk enterprise and he seems a very loose cannon. Also training on crypto blockchain? I don’t get that. Are the Grok developers possibly connected to DOGE personnel?

That I don't know. I never liked Musk too much, I appreciated his sense of business but when someone starts to really believe he is the gift of God to humanity...I tend to not like him. And he crossed that line years ago. This said, testing various AI systems is part of my job and I must say that Grok 3 is quite good. ChatGPT is potentially able to read xrays but it was prohibited from doing that last year, I don't know if it's still the case. I also like Perplexity deep search like you but I will be doing a course Google/Kaggle end of March. AI systems are competing with each other at the moment, so one really never know where to turn and what to look at. I love Google ecosystem. They have many tools that can be used for very interesting stuff, plus I think they will be a huge player. Apart from specialized AIs for science, they have a huge amount of data, not generated by social media but from having indexed basically everything. And of course they are packed with money and tools to create synthetic data. 😀

Thanks Maxone. Just heard CHATGPT 4.5 was just released. Thanks for keeping me up to date (dragging me forward). Paul in Oregon
