Modified Citrus pectin slows prostate cancer progression
Great news and little or no risk to adding this supplement to an anti PC/a regiment. I've been taking MCP for more than a year and I'm stable. Others on this forum swear by it. Though it's impossible to determine causality maybe it's made a difference in keeping castrate resistance at bay. IMHO this horrible disease has to approached like HIV, with both conventional and unconventional treatments, at least until we see a cure. Thanks for posting this.🙏
Hi, may I know your dosing?
15 grams per day (1 dose is 5 grams ) powder. I use Pectasol which recommends this amount for “maximum support .” I take on empty stomach and it lists 3 grams of fiber.
Soumen, it does not dissolve well and have to gulp it down ugh, has anyone found an easier way?
Just throw it as far back in the throat as you can, then gulp a drink!
cheers, blues lover!!
George - A really interesting find. As Rolphs has already noted, many of our esteemed members her have been using MCP for years now. All the ones I know of report good outcomes, at least in terms of stable disease. So, maybe this 18-month reserach project is real confirmation of efficacy when used early on in a BCR. Darn worth adding to see.
I also found this earlier paper in Nutrients that describes in detail the biochemical properties of MCP. I've provided links to the paper linked in the article you posted and the earlier one from 2019. Dr. Eliaz is a lead author on both papers:
Pleiotropic Effects of Modified Citrus Pectin, Nutrients - 2019, 11(11), 2619
Modified Citrus Pectin Treatment in Non-Metastatic Biochemically Relapsed Prostate Cancer: Results of a Prospective Phase II Study, Nutrients 2021, 13(12), 4295

Thanks! Ciao - K9
Is this likely to affect your AST (SGOT) levels? My level today was 46. The rise is primarily caused by starting Nubeqa in March. I also take Orgovyx, Crestor, Zetia, Vascepa and a bunch of supplements. I'm trying to figure out how to balance all these stuff without raising the AST even further, and causing liver damage.
Good news! I take it. Pretty expensive though but if it helps slow progression …..
My husband took it for more than 12 months but his PSA progressed very fast. Unfortunately he had no benefit from it.
I take MCP. A little pricey, but encouraging to see this article. Thanks.
BTW, your post on "Diet slows prostate cancer progression" was deleted. Is this site being censored too? 😳
hope it works
I just received the following warning because of the caution I gave to others - to not post the trial results on another H/U PCa site. They deleted my other trial results posts about Finasteride and diet slowing PCaHi George71,

Excellent. What is good place to get it?
Seems like a very small study size (initially n =59, only 39 made it through the 18 months). I will be interested in hearing the ASCO GU Conference reviews as they indicate it will be "presented" (poster session). I will stay tuned. You mention pricey to take this....define pricey? I notice the Econugenics Pectasol product is Formulated by Dr. Isaac Eliaz M.D., L.Ac..
1-month supply of Pectasol on Amazon is currently $120 (assuming you take 3 doses a day). It's relatively pricey relative to most all other nutraceuticals but in the context of medical treatments and drug therapies, even with insurance, it could be a relative drop in the bucket.
FYI...when I did a search on NCI website for Modified Citrus Pectin.....this was the search result:There are no NCI-supported clinical trials studying modified citrus pectin supplement at this time.
Thank you George, I found this on Amazon , seems good, but does not dissolve well !
May I ask what is IADT?
The big question is, how much time does this really buy you (assuming you respond to it?) That can't be answered without much longer-term studies. Since it's not a pharmaceutical the funding pool is low for more rigorous longer-term studies. The longer-term studies will also elucidate whether this is just masking PSA or actually slowing the disease progression. Given your life is on the line and there is no apparent significant negative side effects, seems like a no brainer as one more arrow in the quiver.
