Reasonable consumption of ETOH is not a problem with MPNs. Drinking to excess is not good for anyone. One thing to watch for is the potential for drug interactions. More subtle is that many of the meds that we use to treat MPNs can be hard on the liver and kidneys. ETOH can exacerbate this. Best to be kind to your liver. And kidneys.

I have combined ETOH with having a MPN for over 30 years without having it be an issue. I recently saw a spike in liver enzymes due to the Besremi. I decided to cut back on the ETOH even though my consumption is moderate. I figure best to not challenge my liver any more than I need to.

My Care Team indicated moderate consumption of ETOH was fine in my case. Suggest you run your question by your MPN Care Team for a case-specific answer.

Thanks for your thoughts! I will run it by my MPN doc, but at the end of the day, easy on the liver/kidneys is best .

All the best to you.
