I am 29 and was wondering if implantation fails more in older woman then younger woman in IVF. Any advice or support would be appreciated.

Hi. It tends to be a combination of the two. You can have a woman of 25 with a very low AMH or high FSH reading who is difficult to stimulate and results in very few eggs to fertilise. On the other hand you can get a woman who is 38 with satisfactory hormone levels who will produce far more eggs and achieve great fertilisation rates. However many embryos are produced, it is then down to implantation. If we only had some “magic” system to ensure transferred embryos stayed put it would be just great, but we haven’t. Your consultant and embryologist will work to give you your best chance. Kind regards. Diane

Hi Diane when I told you a few days ago that my ovarian reserve was 34.4 I had made a mistake, it was 31.4 sorry, is that still good? Do I still have loads of eggs and are they going to be healthy with me being young still, I am 29.

Hi. Yes, the optimal infertility range is 28.6 – 48.5 approximately, so you are fine. Diane

I also have normal thyroid function and I am immune to rubella and I am not anaemic, is this all good to hear too.
