Hi, have you been given antivirals as well as steroids? This is not always recommended treatment for bells. Ramsey Hunt syndrome (basically a shingles outbreak to the face) has a similar presentation but characterised by ear pain. If you don't also get antivirals quickly it can prolong the pain and recovery. Otherwise lots of rest (more than you can think possible!) don't try and work your facial muscles yet. Good luck x

Hi yes I've got the antivirals as well, face feels a lot better today just want my eye to close, all I've done is rest and sleep x

Yes, rest and sleep really is the best thing!! Does your eye fully close? I had to tape mine shut for about 2 weeks and use artificial tears. I could see some improvements after that. I'm 10 months on now and still have good and bad days. The facial palsy has all but cleared up (I can tell but if you don't know me I doubt you'd notice) but still have pain in my ear and cheek which I take gabapentin for. This is a funny old condition tho and have yet to come across two stories that are the same. Hang in there x

Yes, my pain behind the ear lasted about two weeks and it started after the first 7-10 days. It’s normal. Take ibuprofen at night, eat healthy. I hope the best for you. Trust me, it’s going to get better.

I had a lot of pain in my ear and the entire side of my face felt like it bruised even though it wasn't. Just that weird bruise like feeling.
