Where do you look first for info about epilepsy? Maybe you ask family or friends, do a web search or ask at your clinic?

Usually on Google. Once I have an idea on the subject matter in question then I will discuss it with my Epileptologist during a clinical visit.

hi TheSpecialOne,

I guess this may also help give you time to absorb the info first, then work out how you can best raise it with your specialist. Wonder also how open doctors generally are to discussing ideas from the internet, and whether this has changed over time.

If doctors are not open to discussing information off the internet then they are likely to find themselves behind the pack. Twenty years ago consultants could live in their ivory towers because they had the knowledge and the power and were the big 'I am'.

Now it is possible to find countless academic papers available for free on the internet and patients have a far greater range of knowledge and the ability to sit face to face with their doctors and discuss medical matters more confidently.

I have sat opposite a cardiologist discussing one of his papers, debating points which he was happy to clarify for me without talking down to me like neurologist have in the past.
