Hi I'm waiting for a lap to confirm adenomyosis and endo my pelvis feels like it burning and on fire they said my ulterus is lumpy and bumpy!! X

I am 42 and have suspected adenomyosis which was found during my last lap (uterus was spongy). I do get sharp stabbing pains on the left but I thought that may be from endometriosis cyst on the left ovary as I have that as well. I also feel like my pelvic area is generally on fire and get pains down my leg during a period. I would go for an ultrasound scan although this rarely shows adenomyosis, at least it will show whether you have an endometrioma cyst. Have you seen a gynaecologist about having a laparoscopy? That will diagnose whether you have endo and/or suspected adeno and you can get your endo removed surgically (excised) at the same time if there is any. I'm getting treated for both with progesterone only pills. There is also the mirena coil but I haven't tried that. I think they try the birth control pills and coil to keep endo/adeno from growing and then you can stop this if/when you want to try to conceive.

I hope this helps.

Hi you should have an MRI to check for Adeno if that's what it's thought you have. It also needs to be read by a specialist. When I had my MRI the hospital reporter missed the Adeno, I took the MRI on a disc (which you can get from "information governance" at the hospital) to a endo specialist and they clearly pointed out Adeno.

My symptoms of Adeno are very central, severe cramping/stabbing which is progressively worse as I get older. It's more closely related to when my period is than the endo pain. My left sided pain was endo on ovary and pelvic wall and was there regardless of when a period was. BUT Adeno and endo can present a million different ways for every woman and some women with severe Adeno and endo don't have any symptoms.

I don't think you can work out if your symptoms are Adeno, endo or both unless you see a specialist at a BSGE centre. Ask to have some form of birth control they recommend for you while you're waiting for the appointments and investigations eg. The pill constantly or a marina. This will help your symptoms xx
