Stroke?

Hi all, apologies in advance for the lengthy post!

I posted quite some time ago regarding my husband having Brainstem Encephalitis, of unknown cause. He was still in intensive care with a cuffed tracheostomy due to having no swallow and vocal cord paralysis. Fast forward quite a few months and we are still in a very similar position, unfortunately. I contacted the Encephalitis Society back in June for some advice & this led us to him being referred to the National Hospital. They took a look at all his notes & scans, after which they said the most likely cause was actually a blocked blood vessel (stroke) in the brainstem, rather than Encephalitis. Since then we've been waiting for a specialist MRI to help confirm this, however the hospital have dragged their feet & it's still not been done. According to the Neurologist even if it's done now it may not confirm either way!

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for here, but I guess I'm just wondering if a stroke was considered for anyone else? In 3-4 months of my husband's initial hospital stay a stroke was never mentioned at all.

Thanks
