Insurance claim following Encephalitis
Hi all, I’m currently trying to claim... - Encephalitis Inte...
Hi all, I’m currently trying to claim on my critical illness cover, does anyone know when the effects are said to be permanent? Thank you
My financial advisor said any effects which are long lasting count- including things like memory loss/impairment . Not sure how long these need to be in effect for.
I have the same question, the after effects of Enc do vary tremendously from person to person and also as individual recovery progresses. This can affect legal measures such as will-writing and power of attorney as well as health insurance claims. The Encephalitis Society phone line in the UK has proved a pretty authoritative source of guidance for us. The medics say I'm clear now, but I'm still on a range of steroids, anti-seizure tablets, pain relief for spinal fractures sustained during my seizures and anti-depressants. That doesn't sound very cured to me - just under control .....
I still have to try a bus ride, a walk to the crowded supermarket and cooking something a bit complex.
The memory loss is the most devastating and probably most permanent.
I have trouble remembering past events or retaining current information - what day is it again? Have I had breakfast, medication etc.?
Not knowing the most personal details of one's past is quite difficult. Where was I married?
Am I married? Who is that face in the mirror?
A little like brainwashing but it can have a funny side from time to time and you forget the unpleasant memories too.
Did you manage to make any progress with your claim?
