My egfr dropped to 8 at one point and I felt absolutely dreadful. I imagine that dialysis would make you feel better as it would do the job of cleaning your blood that your kidneys are failing to do.

I would have thought that the renal team would have already had this conversation with you.

Do you have to dialyse 3 times a week. Have you thought of PD? That way its done over night at home. That's how I am going to do it if needed. I am at 21 at the moment, but went to 17 and they were already discussing what the next step would be.

I hope you ring and make your decision soon.

I was lucky and managed a reversal of sorts without dialysis. But your readings are lower than mine ever got and I cant say it would work for you anyway.

I changed my diet to eat more alkaline foods and this seemed to assist me.

Beware though, others who are on dialysis have informed me that following a very alkaline diet gives problems if you are on dialysis.

This link will give you hints if you want to try it.

You really do have to consider changing something, whether that be opting for dialysis or finding an improvement elsewhere. The life changes will just have to be made. I think you know that.

Hi,

Thanks for the link. Very interesting. Do you by any chance know what No. 41 refers to in the last set of columns? (Alkaline to Acidic).

Just curious! :-)

No. To be honest I just referred to the akaline/acid columns and tried to move my diet to something more largely alkaline. Not totally alkaline but with a greater proportion of alkaline.

From what is suggested, it seems that by cutting fried foods and fizzy drinks you may already be making a large change.

The numbers bit, that I hadnt even taken notice of. I dont think it is really possible to have a balanced diet if you try to exclude everything. So I just tried to make substitutions. Its easier if you attempt to eat mainly fresh or unprocessed foods, as you are not eating hidden fats or salts.

I was rushed into hospital on the Sunday and back out by Wednesday. Afterward I spoke to my specialist and she said they did a really good job.
