Hi,
I had eye problems which I complained about and the first referral told me I was being lazy with my eyes whilst my rheumatoidologist did blood tests for sjogren's as I had recently been diagnosed with RA. it took 5 months of persistent mentioning of my eyes at any appointment I went to from that first 'you have dry eye but I think you're being lazy with your eyes' judgement to a blepharospasm diagnosis... it took the ophthalmologist all of 5 seconds to tell me what I had - another 20 minutes to explain what this thing was and what treatment was available.
