Welcome Steve. Glad you’re with us. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. And you can live it sober.

One suggestion is check in with us daily and let us know how you’re doing. I find I can’t not drink without the help of other people.

Is this your first attempt at abstinence?

thank you so much for your welcome. This is a really hard time for me , didn’t realise I had a problem until my uss showed fatty liver . I did think I was drinking too much wine a day ! But everyone talks about “wine a’clock’ thought it was ok 😢

I too had many stop and restarting experience until i reached out for help and my shrink led me to AA. What a blessing. As an alcoholic, i understood the mind tricks us back into that first drink over and over again and then the craving takes over. Thats why I could never control and enjoy my drinking and worst part was when I tried to stop, I got really squirelly which led me back to alcohol. Thats the vicious cycle I was in. I had to have a different outlook up on life which means I have to drop my old ideas and acquire new ideas and attitude. 12 step of AA helps us reach that state. Hope you can atleast read the book Alcoholics Anonymous. Its freely available online at AA.org.

Hi,

Welcome and well done you. This is also one of my many times and I am three days sober and so far feel 💯better and in control. Believe in yourself and one day at a time. Post how you are doing, reading the messages do really help.

Staying positive helps and more healthier choices when is comes to food and my diet which I find is a big focus point. So intermittent fasting is my new thing.
