I usually have a glass or 2 of wine in the evening every day but would like to cut that down to maybe just at the weekend. I am finding it quite hard as I’ve been doing this since Covid hit.

Alcoholism is a disease. If you are drinking when you don’t want to, you may have it. Research aa.org.
Try to work out what triggers your desire to have that drink in the evening - a certain TV programme, a phone call, a certain time etc. Then work out a strategy to get through it - such as make that call, go for a walk, make a cup of tea etc. All these things are prompted by patterns that we adopt and find difficult to get out of. Another good way to reduce amount, if you cant stop every night is by making wine mixed with sparkling water, spritzers , so you drink half the amount of alcohol in your glasses or even try swapping in the week to a lemonade shandy (works well in hot weather). Save wine for weekend tipple.
For me it’s the 5 o’clock trigger or rewarding myself with alcohol because I’ve had a hard day at work or whatever. What I’ve done is substituted the wine for fizzy water or Trip. I pour it in a wine glass and that’s it. Once I’m over the 5 o’clock feeling I’m grand 😊
