Hello all. I was diagnosed with good pastures syndrome in March this year. It has left me with chronic renal failure. I started haemodialysis and recently changed to peritoneal dialysis. I feel sick most if the time but it seems to get worse in the evenings. Has anyone else found this? If so what did you do to overcome it? ...

Sickness ...
Hi sickness with PD therapy is common and can last a long period of time it's even nore common with renal patients with diabetes . I was prescribed metoclopramide 10mg a day which certainly did help , I too had a lack of appetite which made it worse . I was also told that when I felt sick to eat something and surprisingly enough it helped to ease the sickly feeling. I have been on PD now for 6 years and it's very rare I get the sickness feeling these days ! Also note metoclopramide is only a short term resolution medicine and shouldn't be taken long term ! Hope this helps

Hello. Thank you for your reply, most appreciated. I spoke to the doctor today and he changed my antacids so hopefully that will do the trick .... I can't believe you have been doing it for 6 years ... amazing! Really glad it's worked for you.
Hah it's not been easy although I've still carried on working part time except one year I had to take off ! The depression got to me and I piled weight on which is the reason I've been on PD for 6 year . I got a call for a transplant kidney and pancreas and after travelling 70 mile to the unit I got weighed and they had to decline me ! My BMI was 36 and they won't do the transplant unless your BMI was lower than 30 ! So I've been on PD all this time which is loaded with glucose trying to loose weight ! It's taken me 3 year to find a diet routine that fits in with being diabetic and having renal failure on PD . It was really hard as the weight came off I then plateaued this then stood still for a year ! I tried the gym , I even cycled to and from work weekly 40+ miles per week ! This did nothing . So I found a diet that has worked LCHF low carb high fat diet ! Since I started this I reduced my portion sizes and luckily the weight started coming off again . I only have 3 or 4 kg to shift now so hope to get rid because the PD is starting to fail so new therapy regimes are having to be implemented ! But hope soon it will be over with
