Diabetics specialists vary in opinion on patients' fasting and pps results. Do they really guide completely to medicines and dosages.

The ranges, in point of fact, cannot be the same throughout the world. Or let us say, country. It is so because of natural and cultural differences. A friend of mine, who headed the R & D Department in a reputed medical equipment manufacturing company shared with me that Diagnostic Laboratories are directed to take samples from majority of the people staying in the locality both non-diabetic and diabetic on few occasions and through a systematic study arrive at the healthy/normal/minimum/maximum ranges for BS. The BS expressed in numbers also changes on the basis of the methodology adopted for test. If the doctors were not to do a reasonable job, how come so many people are able to live normal life and live with diabetes? Please, do not doubt every thing for the sake of doubting?

We cannot generalise in such matters. Doctors opinion depends upon the condition of the patient and various parameters relating to that individual. A doctor of repute needs to uphold his values and ethics in profession. Hence it is very unlikely that he/she make adhoc comments. We also need to keep in mind that there is a commercial angle to all professions and hospitals/clinics are no exception.

When a range of sugar levels is prescribed there is always an element of subjectivity that may differ from one doctor and another. At the end of the day,you have to choose a doctor in whom you have total faith.Money does play a role in this but that should be of secondary importance to a diabetic.Money may facilitate good health, but it can not buy it.
