pulmonary fibrosis is primarily scarring of lungs due to known or unknown reasons. If fibrosis is without knowing reason then it is known as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. There is no known cure for this disease. Steroids & some other drugs are prescribed to prolong the inevitable. The average life of a patient after diagnosis is 5 to 7 years. If a person is beyond 65 years then this can be longer. At a younger age this gallops very fast. Pirfenidone is the only drug known to extend the inevitable. I know of one such case.
