How reliable are glucometers ? I use Easy gluco by Dr.Morepen. When to take readings and How to record?Thanks

My submissions are:

1) You may take readings from your Glucometer and get tests done from a lab also over a month and get an idea.

2) Glucometers normally store the last reading. To record successive readings you have to keep a manual record in a note book.

I am using Glucometer of ABBOTT. I find that the reading of Glucometer is little higher than Lab Test by about 12 to 15 units in my case. I am not aware of results of other Glucometers. You may carry your Glucometer when you go to lab and request for a drop of blood and test it with your Glucometer. You will be able to compare the results with Glucometer and Lab. You may also test sugar level (as you do at home) at the SAME when blood is taken in Lab. This will indicate the variation in the results and know for your guidance/information.

yes i do agree with onil. make a habit - whenever you go to lab - his method is very conveniet - do it before and fafter meal - alt least whole month you will have a fairly good
