It is a tough question, because you are already on insulin. What you should aim for is getting the medicine dosages slowly and steadily by better diet management, increased physical activity and leading a disciplined and stress free life style.

You can live a life without medications if you able to inhale clean air, drink pure water, consume unadulterated food and live safely in an unpolluted environment. But this is not possible in the present age.

When you get old, diseases such as cancer, hypertension, heart attack, stroke and kidney disease set in. Your immunity towards communicable diseases will be lowered due to diabetes. You will be subjected to mental stress and lack of sound sleep. You will be forced to consume medications.

In the above circumstances, optimum use of medications (knowing fully well the side-effects of each medication) is the golden standard.

To control diabetes and to prevent its complications effectively, take your blood sugar (FBS or PPBS) daily. This will enhance your lifespan.
